Galaxy Note 8 getting April 2020 security patch in new update

The COVID-19 pandemic doesn't seem to be having any effect on Samsung's update game, as the company has continued to release important updates for many of its devices in the last few weeks. We saw the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 get One UI 2.1, many mid-rangers got the Android 10 update (and so did the $2000 Fold), and the April 2020 security patch is also making its way to a few devices.

Earlier this week, Samsung released the April security patch for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and it is now rolling out an update with the new security patch to the Galaxy Note 8. As is often the case, the update has been released in Germany, where it is available with firmware version N950FXXSADTC4. The update only includes security enhancements; as we had confirmed a few weeks ago, Android 10 is not coming to the Galaxy Note 8 or the Galaxy S8, though they will keep getting security updates for at least another couple of years.

The April security update for the Galaxy Note 8 will probably be released in more markets soon. Once it is available in your country, you will be able to download it over the air from the phone's Settings » Software update menu by tapping Download and install. You can also find the latest firmware for the Galaxy Note 8 in our firmware archive if you wish to manually update your phone.
