Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 rumored to feature in-display fingerprint reader

The announcement of the Galaxy Note 9 is right around the corner, but the rumor mill is hard at work on telling us everything we need to know about devices expected to launch next year.

According to an analyst note released this week by respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, which was picked up first by Business Insider, Samsung will launch three variants of the Galaxy S10 in the early stages of 2019. Kuo's note focuses on the screen sizes of those future handsets, saying that Samsung will offer one handset with a 5.8-inch display, another with a 6.1-inch screen, and another with a 6.4-inch panel.

Kuo also echoes the expectation that Samsung is planning on having one of the upcoming Galaxy S10 models be a "lower cost" option, which will feature a fingerprint sensor built into the side of the device.

The other two models, along with the Galaxy Note 10 expected to arrive later in 2019, will have a fingerprint sensor built into the display. The two models with the "ultrasonic fingerprint reader" will be the 6.1- and 6.4-inch variants, while the Galaxy S10 with the 5.8-inch display will reportedly be the cheaper model of the bunch.

As far as rumors are concerned, the Galaxy S10 is looking like an impressive handset. We previously heard that the Galaxy S10+ option, which will more than likely boast the 6.4-inch display, will have up to five cameras — three on the back, and a pair of cameras on the front. We have indeed heard in the past that Samsung is planning on dropping the iris scanner in its smartphone lineup in favor of an in-display fingerprint sensor, so we may see the smartphone manufacturer go that route early next year.

Are these rumors getting you to look forward to the Galaxy S10 next year?
