All Nokia Android phones will receive Android 9.0 Pie

Nokia have been making some great phones as late with a switch to pure Android with Android One and Android Go for all their devices going forward. One advantage of the phones running these versions of Android is fast and easy updates and this is set to be proven with Nokia bringing Android 9.0 Pie to all of their Android smartphones.

When a new version is released everyone is watching closely to see when their device's manufacturer announces if their device will receive an update. Nokia have come out and announced that all of their devices will receive Android 9.0. First there was a Tweet sent out by Nokia Mobile confirming that all of this year's models will receive Pie, of course including the 7 Plus which already has a developer preview Pie which is relatively functional.

Next Suomimobiili.fi received an official comment from HMD Global stating which Nokia phones will be receiving Android 9.0. If you check out the list below, it is all of them. We assume that all will be converted to the Android One/Android Go pathway.

  • Nokia 7 Plus
  • Nokia 8 Sirocco
  • Nokia 8
  • Nokia 7
  • Nokia 6.1 Plus
  • Nokia 6.1
  • Nokia 6
  • Nokia 5.1
  • Nokia 5
  • Nokia 3.1
  • Nokia 3
  • Nokia 2.1
  • Nokia 2
  • Nokia 1
  • Nokia X6
  • Nokia X5

We are assuming that the Nokia 7 Plus will receive the update first given that it is now into DP4 and must be very close to release as it is. After that you would assume this years devices followed by the older models. There is no time frame on these releases but if you own a Nokia Android smartphone keep an eye out for any updates arriving to your device in the coming weeks and months.
