Electronics Deals – August 15, 2018: Fitbit, Samsung, LG & More

Today, Amazon is discounting a slew of Fitbit fitness trackers, including the Fitbit Alta coming in at $99, the Alta HR and Charge 2 at $119 and the Ionic at $249. Fitbit's first pair of headphones – the Flyer  – are also on sale for $99.95. So if you're looking to pick up a new fitness tracker and get back into shape, then this is definitely the time to do just that. These prices won't last for long – Fitbit nor Amazon has mentioned how long they will be available – so you'll want to grab them before they are gone.

There are still some great deals on AncestryDNA, as well as Galaxy Note 9 pre-orders. Amazon is offering a pretty sweet deal on the Galaxy Note 9 for pre-orders. When you pre-order the Galaxy Note 9, you can get the new Wireless Charger Duo and the DeX Pad included, which is worth around $300 together, and getting that for free is definitely a good thing here. The Galaxy Note 9 starts at $999 for the 128GB model, and you can get 512GB of storage for $1249, which makes it a pretty pricey smartphone, but still worth it. With the 6.4-inch Quad HD+ display, the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM and the massive 4000mAh battery inside as well. This is a great smartphone to pick up, and pre-orders are only available through next Thursday, as it goes on sale officially next Friday, August 24.

All of the deals listed below are accurate for today, and will expire at midnight PST on their expiration date. But keep in mind that some of these deals may end before then, if stock runs low or simply runs out. Also keep in mind that prices on Amazon do tend to fluctuate. So if you are looking to get in on one of these deals, you'll want to do it as soon as possible.

Apple is postponing new iOS features in favor of reliability and performance

Apple has decided to postpone new features in iOS in favor of improving the reliability and performance of the operating system, as according to a report by Axios. According to the report, Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President, Software Engineering, announced the revised plan to employees at a meeting earlier this month. This pushes features like refresh of the homescreen and in-car user interface, improvements to core apps like Mail and camera experience to 2019. What we will get this year is improvements to AR, digital health and parental controls. Apart from that, the OS will largely feature improvements to performance and user experience. We have seen Apple do this with macOS in the past, where they dedicate one entire update cycle to just refining the OS and make existing features work better.
