Sony Xperia XZ3 Pre-Orders Open On Amazon For $899

In short: The Sony Xperia XZ3, announced at IFA last month, is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The already-announced bundle with the Xperia Ear Duo is what is available for pre-order, and it'll cost you $899. That is the regular price for the Xperia XZ3, so you are essentially getting the Xperia Ear Duo for free here – they typically cost around $200. This is a GSM unlocked smartphone, so it will work with AT&T and T-Mobile here in the US, but not Verizon and Sprint or other CDMA carriers.

Background: The Xperia XZ3 is the successor to the Xperia XZ2 announced earlier this year. As is typically the case with a refresh of a barely six month-old device, there's not a lot of changes here. But there is one big change. Sony has decided to go with a 6-inch curved OLED display here, and it is also an 18:9 aspect ratio display, so you're going to get some really deep blacks, and this is a HDR-capable display. So the picture quality is going to be outstanding. Other specs here include the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The typical specs for a 2018 flagship smartphone. There is a 3300mAh capacity battery here, which might seem a big tiny in 2018, but with Sony's light software skin and battery STAMINA features, it should still last a full day and then some.

Impact: Sony's Xperia XZ3 is apparently going to be shipping a bit early from Amazon. Sony announced that the Xperia XZ3 would be shipping on October 17 in the US, when the device was announced at IFA. But Amazon has the release date set as September 24, which is about three weeks early. It is only available in Black in the US, and there is also a warranty included.
