OnePlus' first 5G phone could cost $100 more than the OnePlus 6T

OnePlus clarified that its upcoming 5G phone will not be the OnePlus 7, but will still launch in early 2019. This suggests a new product line and rumors have already started appearing that it will come with a new price tag.

The 5G-enabled OnePlus phone will cost $650/€650, according to people in the know. That's $100 over the OnePlus 6T, which sounds fairly reasonable considering that 5G in early 2019 will be bleeding edge – the iPhones may have to wait until 2020 to upgrade from 4G.

This 5G model will likely use the Snapdragon 8150 chipset and the X50 modem. Even if it uses the X24 instead, it will certainly stick to Qualcomm parts given that the chip maker is OnePlus' new best friend (along with T-Mobile).

Chances are that the 4G OnePlus 7 will see a price bump too, but it should be much smaller than this. The OnePlus 6T launched at $550 with 128GB base storage, previous models started at 64GB (which offset the price difference).

The OnePlus 6 started at $530, the 5T at $500, the 5 at $480 and so on. Expect a $20-$30 bump in price for the 7 is what we're saying.
