How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S9+ Stuck On Bootloop After Flashing Firmware

This device uses a large 6.2 inch Super AMOLED display which makes it great to use for viewing multimedia content. Its powerful Snapdragon 845 processor when paired with its 6 GB of RAM allows the phone to run even the most demanding mobile games with ease. Although this is a solid performing device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S9+ stuck on bootloop after flashing firmware issue.

How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S9+ Stuck On Bootloop After Flashing Firmware

Problem: Hello, Device info: US Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy S9+ on Xfinity Mobile (Runs on Verizon network). I was able to successfully flash to the first pie update even though its not approved on my device since it's on Xfinity/Verizon. My phone is stuck in a boot loop after I tried manually updating my phone from beta 1 to beta 2 of the pie update for the Samsung Galaxy S9. I was using adb and it got stuck at 41%. I cancelled out of it and tried going back in without any luck. I've also tried using Odin to return to stock but Odin gets past the step saying Setup Connection. I've tried multiple files in adb and Odin without any luck. Can you help please?

Solution: One of the best ways to upgrade a phone software if the device is still not showing that an update is available is by flashing. While this requires several steps to be performed it's actually an easy procedure that can be done with the help of a computer. Most of the time your phone will not have any problems after it has undergone flashing however there are instances when issues can occur such as the one our reader is facing right now ehre the phone is stuck on a bootloop.

The troubleshooting steps listed below are recommended for this particular problem.

Wipe the cache partition from the recovery mode

The first thing you will need to do is to erase the cached data stored in your phone as this might be corrupted and is now causing the problem.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight "wipe cache partition."
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight "yes" and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, "Reboot system now" is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset in recovery mode

The next step you will have to do is a factory reset. This allows you to eliminate any software related glitches that could be causing the problem.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release all keys ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight 'wipe data / factory reset'.
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until 'Yes — delete all user data' is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the reset is complete and the phone is still stuck in bootloop then I recommend that you flash the phone again.

Download the original stock firmware file of your phone then perform the following steps.

  • Download Odin v3.13.1
  • Extract the firmware file you just downloaded.
  • Add each file to its respective field in Odin v3.13.1. Use CSC_*** if you want to do a clean flash or HOME_CSC_*** if you want to keep your apps and data.
  • Reboot your phone in Download / Odin mode (make sure your device is off) with the following button combo: POWER + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
  • When in download mode, connect your phone to the PC, preferably using the original USB cable you got with your phone. Odin should detect your device and a BLUE box will show up with the COM port number.
  • Do NOT tick any extra boxes. The only options to be ticked are F.Reset Time and Auto-Reboot.
  • Click the start button, wait for Odin to say 'PASS' in a GREEN box. Once the flash is complete, your phone will reboot, and you can disconnect your phone from the PC.
