Samsung launched its mobile payment service, Samsung Pay , in South Korea and the US last year . Later the company began the service in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Russia, Singapore, Spain, and a few other countries. The company promised earlier this year that it would bring Samsung Pay to the UK by the end of 2016. However, it is now being reported that the launch of Samsung Pay in the UK is delayed to 2017. According to a report from The Telegraph , Samsung recently confirmed that it is pushing the launch of Samsung Pay in the UK to 2017. The company has provided no specific time frame. The main reason behind this delay is cited to be the negotiation with banks as it is taking longer than what Samsung expected earlier. The company’s mobile payment service will compete with Apple Pay and Android Pay in the UK when it launches next year.

Samsung has been investigating the cause of the Galaxy Note 7′s tendency to catch fire even after it switched battery suppliers and promised that the replacement units sent out after the first recall were safe. The company has said that it’s going to make the results of this investigation public . Industry sources cited in a new report out of South Korea today claim that the results will be announced next month. The company is also working with several product safety agencies in the United States and in South Korea to ascertain the cause of the fires. The batteries were initially believed to be the primary culprit but the matter should have been resolved when Samsung switched suppliers . It’s believed that diverse factors must have played a role in the Galaxy Note 7′s demise. The Galaxy Note 7 has since been discontinued and the company continues to urge users to return their device for an exchange or a full refund. Samsung has launched the Gear S3 in a few markets, and the latest smartwatch from the company comes with built-in GPS connectivity. It received a minor firmware update last week that added preliminary support for a speedometer. Now, Samsung has released a standalone speedometer app for the Gear S3. The aptly named ‘Speedometer for Gear’ app was released earlier today by Samsung, and it is compatible with the Gear S3 . It uses the Gear S3′s GPS to calculate the user’s speed in real-time. It also shows the data in graphical format along with lowest and highest speeds, and it even keeps track of previous data.

Samsung today announced its formal response to a proposal submitted by US hedge fund and minority shareholder Elliott Associates which suggested that Samsung Electronics should be split into a holding company for ownership purposes and an operating company besides paying a one-time dividend of $27 billion from cash reserves.
