The Galaxy Note 9 may have highly customizable UI

Image
Released a couple of years ago, the Samsung Good Lock app used to let users customize some aspects of TouchWiz (now Samsung Experience) in ways otherwise reserved for custom ROM users. The app made sense, because Samsung's Android skin was already so heavily modified, and the response from the community was overly positive. However, Good Lock was initially developed for Android Marshmallow, and by the time Nougat rolled around, it became unusable. The good news is, Good Lock is coming back and it may be featured on the Galaxy Note 9. A couple of days ago, Samsung released an ... #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

Android P Beta 2 Lands On The OnePlus 6 With New Features

Image
Android P Developer Preview 2 is now available for the OnePlus 6. Android P beta for the OnePlus 6 was announced by both OnePlus and Google during Google I/O, and following the release of Android P Developer Preview 2 for the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, the Essential PH-1, and the Sony Xperia XZ2, the build is now available for the OnePlus 6 as well. This update was first spotted on Baidu, says XDA, and it has been announced via OnePlus' Chinese forums. This update fixes camera stability issues, while an issue with face unlocking has also been fixed in this update. Application compatibility issues have been taken care of as well, while the "Wi-Fi SoftAP Device Manager is currently not unavailable" issue is not a problem any longer either. Issues with camera portrait mode have been taken care of by the company as well, and the same goes for "Widevine L1 is temporarily unavailable" issue. Along with Android P Beta 2 features, you're also

Motorola is currently running soak test for Android 8.1 Oreo on the Moto G5S Plus

Image
The budget Motorola devices don't usually get the much-needed updates as fast as they should so when an OTA pops up on a Moto device, users rejoice. The latest device to get the Android 8.1 Oreo is the Moto G5S Plus but don't get too excited, though, as the OEM is currently running a soak test in some countries. And apparently, the update will skip over the Android 8.0 Oreo. Reportedly, the first country to get the update is Brazil shortly followed by some parts of Europe and India. The OTA itself is pretty hefty - about 1.2GB so we expect plenty of changes under the hood. Just make sure you've charged your phone above 50% and that you are connected to the WiFi before updating because it will take some time and it will eat your data. It won't be long before the software update goes global but in the meantime, here are some screenshots from Brazil. The build number is OPP28.60 and you can always try scanning for the OTA manually to see if it's available i

There's no excuse: All Android phones (even Samsung's) should run stock Android

Image
Back Android's early days, the system's open-source generosity offered a huge advantage to phone manufacturers. In the Android Eclair and Froyo eras, there was palatable whimsy in interface design. Owning an Android phone was fun, and manufacturers developed identity by interpreting the system in their own special ways. But the modern Android experience is a mess of unnecessary customizations, ugly designs, and bloated app drawers. In short, Android's biggest problem in 2018 may be Android itself. But it never had to be that way. For years, Google has been trying to show phone makers that its pure vision of Android is best (anyone remember Google Play edition phones ?), even going so far as to demonstrate stock Android's superiority on its own Nexus and Pixel handsets. Yet still, nearly every Android phone uses a version of Android that is dramatically different than the one Google provides in the Android Open Source Project. And for the most par

Galaxy Note 9 will come with 512GB storage in these markets

Image
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9's arrival isn't happening anytime soon yet but we know there will be one. The next-gen Note is being prepped for release since renders and leaks are being published more frequently. We have a feeling there are more sources and retailers receiving information about the premium device. We thought the Note 9 would already apply the under-display sensor but the technology isn't ready at this point. We can say it will roll out in time for the Galaxy S10 but not for the Galaxy Note 9. By now, we've told you everything you need to know about the Note 9 including that horizontal dual camera setup , new and improved S-Pen , Bixby 2.0 , Android 8.1 Oreo , 6GB RAM, and Snapdragon 845 processor . Rumor has it Samsung is planning on a 512GB variant which is very large for a smartphone. We're used to Samsung introducing a 128GB or 256GB models as with the Galaxy S9, S9+, and the Note 8. The 512GB is a first from Samsung but not exactly the f

LG X5 (2018) becomes official in South Korea with large 4,500mAh battery

Image
LG has quietly announced a successor to the 2016 LG X5 that doesn't necessarily bring anything groundbreaking on the specs front but does include a pretty big upgrade in the battery department. Taking a look at the smartphone, the biggest change overall is in the looks area. Gone is the old rectangular design language and in its place is a rounder one that resembles LG's most recent budget smartphones. Despite the looks overhaul, though, the same 5.5-inch display seen on the original once again makes a return. Additionally, on the specs front, only a few minimal upgrades have been included ... #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

LG Q8 Plus Gets Certified By The KCC & WFA, Coming Soon

Image
The LG LM-Q815L got certified by the KCC (Korean Communications Commission) and WFA (Wi-Fi Alliance), and it seems like this is the upcoming LG Q8 Plus. This listing actually follows a certification of the LG LM-Q815S which got approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and it seems like both of those devices are variants of the upcoming LG Q8 Plus handset. Google's page, dedicated to devices that support Google Play, actually reveals that both LM-Q815L and LM-Q815S are the LG Q8 Plus smartphones. Having said that, the LG Q8 was announced back in July last year, and it was basically a new variant of the LG V20, but inferior to the LG V20. Well, the LG Q8 Plus is expected to be similar to the LG V30 , to a degree, which means that it will probably also be inferior to the LG V30, but resemble it in a way. This phone is expected to launch in a similar time as its predecessor, but in 2018, of course, so it will probably arrive in July, or August at the latest. The LG Q8 Plus will probably be

Motorola granted patent for foldable smartphone with heating hinge

Image
Motorola has been granted a patent for a foldable smartphone with a thermal element in the hinge. The element heats up the place where the screen has been deformed from being folded and straightens it. Using this design Motorola could make a flexible OLED smartphone that flexes both inward and outward and it could even have more than one hinge (to fold even tighter). Image courtesy of LetsGoDigital Motorola filed the patent application way back in 2016. The technology is very clever. There's a temperature sensor that works even when the phone is off and when it's folded. If the temperature becomes too low the screen starts to deform, so the hinge heats up to automatically correct it. Motorola's patent isn't accompanied by a phone and it's unlikely we'll see one soon. Samsung looks like the maker to bring out a flexible OLED phone to market first, but even that will happen next year . Source | Via #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @

Samsung Galaxy Note9 512GB variant to be available in Korea

Image
Last month, there were reports the Samsung Galaxy Note9 will also be available in 8GB/512GB memory configuration. And now, we have some info on the markets that will get this model. Korea seems almost confirmed as the 512GB model was found listed on the website of KT Olleh Store (the listings have been pulled though). Then there are rumors that China (and possibly some other markets) will also get the 512GB storage variant, but Europe is not on the list. Galaxy Note 9 will come with 512 GB ROM to selected markets (Korea, China and maybe more) — SamsungMobile.News (@Samsung_News_) June 16, 2018 Galaxy Note 9 won't come with 512GB ROM to Europe — SamsungMobile.News (@Samsung_News_) June 17, 2018 Needless to say, none of this is officially confirmed at the moment.
