Amazon bans non spec-compliant USB Type-C cables

-

Amazon has updated its list of prohibited listings to reflect that the it will no longer sell USB Type-C cables that aren't compliant with standard specifications. Here's the exact line added by the online retailer: Any USB-C™ (or USB Type-C™) cable or adapter product that is not compliant with standard specifications issued by "USB Implementers Forum Inc." The change was spotted by Google's Benson Leung, who has been examining USB Type-C cables for quite some time now. Google Pixel 3 Teardown: Adhesive secures battery, different OLED panel

-

The Google Pixel 3 XL Teardown by iFixit we featured yesterday revealed the bigger variant offers a whole lot of glue and is a bit challenging to disassemble and repair. We were surprised by the AMOLED screen as it was made by Samsung–one of its biggest rivals. The smartphone isn't exactly our top choice right now but the premium flagship has potential. It has a smaller variant, the standard Pixel 3, that comes without a notch and obviously wide forehead and chin. The Pixel 3 teardown shouldn't be any different from the Google Pixel 3 XL teardown but iFixit was curious if the display is the same. The latest tweak, presenting Android-style Settings and Shortcuts apps in the launcher, further affirms the role Google's Chrome OS is set to assume.  It's no secret, we're of the opinion that Chrome OS devices are set to displace Android tablets, and app-centric changes like these seem to imply that Google feels the same way. The changes were announced just earlier today by François Beaufort , Chrome evangelist and Googler. Shortcuts and Settings apps in the launcher on Chrome OS (above), former location for  The Settings app was previously accessible via the 3-dot menu in the corner of most windows, or the avatar and icon-speckled menu to be bottom right. Since Android apps landed for Chromebooks, the Settings menu has had a d...
