Samsung Galaxy S9+ could let you adjust the depth of 3D stickers: Report

Samsung is all set to unveil its flagship Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones at an unpacked event on February 25, a day before MWC 2018 trade show officially begins. Ahead of the official unveiling, we have come across a number of leaks and rumors that have revealed a lot of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S9-duo. Leaks have already hinted that the Galaxy S9 will come with a variable aperture camera, whereas the dual camera setup will be reserved for the ‘Plus’ variant. Now, a new piece of information sheds some light on new camera features that we are likely to see on the smartphone.

Senior XDA Member mweinbach who previously tipped about ‘intelligent scan’ feature has now revealed about the possibility of the Galaxy S9+ coming with depth-sending sticker feature. The hints of the feature were seen in the APK teardown of some apps of unreleased Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the Galaxy Note 8. The new feature will allow you to add stickers or images to your photos, and then adjust their depth. The feature could be similar to Google’s AR Stickers.

The teardown has also revealed a new feature called Tag Shot that could allow users to tag their photos with weather information and location among others. This could be similar to the stickers that you add on Instagram and Snapchat photos. And while there is no additional other information available, we can expect Samsung to talk in-depth of the feature on February 25.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are expected to come with minor design improvements over the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. Under the hood, the Galaxy S9 could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, whereas the ‘Plus’ variant is expected to come with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. As usual, the Indian variant could be powered by Exynos 9810 SoC.

Based on previous reports, both smartphones may also be able to record slow-motion videos in full HD resolution, with frame rate of 480fps. For more details, we will have to wait until Samsung officially unveils the smartphones on February 25.

Google’s December 2018 security patch includes much-needed RAM management fix

Every first Monday of the month, we're used to seeing Google launch security patches for its supported devices. This month is no different, as Google has released the December 2018 security patch. The patch not only fixes a bunch of security bugs, but also features the long awaited memory performance fixes. Android Pie has long been killing apps in the background (even if you were using them a second ago) and it's even affected devices other than Pixel /Nexus devices and we hope this fix will help. There are also some camera fixes for Pixel users included as well. Surprisingly, we're seeing the updates hit the Nexus 5X and 6P, both of which have reached their end of life.
