T-Mobile offering free phones to switch, steep discounts for current customers

  • If you move to T-Mobile from another carrier, you can get up to $750 off a second device
  • Current customers can get an additional $150 off a device when they trade in a qualifying phone.
  • T-Mobile is offering to pay off 13 qualifying phones financed from Verizon including the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

If you didn't get the phone you wanted over the holiday season, T-Mobile is offering a great deal to both new and current customers. It is back with another BOGO deal, but that's not all. It's also offering discounts on devices, regardless of whether you pick up a second device or not.

Starting Friday, you can walk into a T-Mobile store and get $150 off a flagship phone. All you have to do is trade in a device (you get the value of that device too) and you can save $150 on the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, S8 Active, Note 8, LG G6, V30, or V30 Plus. The cheapest of those devices, the LG G6, is available for only $500. With a decent trade-in and the $150 in bonus cash, you could be paying only a few dollars a month for the device.

T-Mobile will launch its own "disruptive" pay TV service in 2018

T-Mobile will enter into a new business territory in 2018. The wireless phone carrier announced today it will launch its own pay television service next year, and claims it will be as "disruptive" for that …

The second part of T-Mobile's promotion is the BOGO deal. T-Mobile seems to run these quite a bit to entice people to switch over from another carrier. The carrier is offering 12 different flagship smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Apple for free when you buy another. All you have to do is port in a number, trade in a qualifying smartphone, and buy a phone on an installment plan. You will then receive the money for the device in the form of a mail-in rebate.

There are a couple of caveats here. T-Mobile is offering a free Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, LG V30, or LG V30 Plus under the BOGO promotion. But, if you opt for a Galaxy S8 Plus, S8 Active, or Note 8, you get up to $750 back. Since those devices cost more than $750, you'll be on the hook for the rest.

T-Mobile is also continuing its #GetOutoftheRed promotion where it'll pay off the smartphone you financed at Verizon to get you to switch. 13 different smartphones are eligible, including the recently added Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. All you have to do is port your number over to T-Mobile, sign up for a ONE Plus or ONE Plus International plan, and you'll receive a virtual prepaid card to pay off your device.

All three of these deals can be combined on one account (business accounts too), but not on the same line. As a reminder, when you finance a phone from T-Mobile, you're on the hook for sales tax at the time of purchase. Additionally, some devices may require a down payment like $230 required to pick up the Galaxy Note 8.
