How to fix Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 with Black Screen of Death (easy steps)

The Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 is one of the mid-range devices that received quite positive reviews from its users for almost every aspect. It hardware specifications are among the things that really stand out. Needless to say, the phone has some muscles of its own but just like any other smartphones in the market today, it's not free of problems and issues and one of the most common problems owners have reported is the Black Screen of Death (BSoD).

It may seem like a very complicated problem because it will make your device unresponsive to touch and button press. It may not even respond to its charger. But believe me, this issue is not as complicated as it may seem because most of the time it's due to a firmware or system crash. In this post, I will walk you through in fixing your Galaxy A7 2017 and make it respond again. I will share with you the solution that we've always been using to fix issues like this so continue reading as this post may help you one way or another.

But before we actually jump to our troubleshooting, if you have other issues with your device, then try to visit our Galaxy A7 troubleshooting page for we have already addressed the most commonly reported issues with this device. How to make Galaxy A7 with Black Screen of Death respond again

First solution: Forced Reboot

It's the first thing I want you to try. In fact, it might be the only thing you need to try to make your phone respond again. As I said earlier, the BSoD issue is often a result of a system crash and the most effective solution to it is this: press and hold the volume down button and the power key at the same time for 10 seconds or more.

This will simulate battery disconnect and refreshes your phone's memory by closing all apps running in the background and reloading the services and core functions the phone uses. If the phone doesn't respond to it, try doing it a couple more times and if still no, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don't let go.
  2. Next, press and hold the Power key while holding down the Volume Down button.
  3. Keep both buttons held down for 10 seconds or more.

It's the same as the first procedure only that we're making sure that you're holding down the Volume Down button before the Power key because it otherwise will have a different result and you may still not be able to make your Galaxy A7 2017 respond.

However, if the phone is still not responding after doing this, then you should try the next solution.

Second solution: Charge your phone and do the Forced Reboot again

It's possible that the battery got completely drained and the phone hasn't been shut down properly which may have also led to a system crash. In that case, you already have to issues. This is what you can do to address this problem and rule out this possibility:

  1. Plug the charger to a working AC outlet and I mean the wired charger.
  2. Using the original cable, connect your Galaxy A7 2017 to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether it's showing the charging signs or not, leave the phone connected to its charger for at least ten minutes.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don't release it.
  5. Press and hold the Power key while holding down the Volume Down button.
  6. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

You're basically doing the forced reboot procedure while the device is connected to its charger. Assuming the problem was caused by a drained battery and system crash, your S7 Edge should be booting up by now. If, by any chance, the phone is still not responding after this, then it's time to bring it to the shop so that a technician can take a look at it.

You may also try starting the phone in Recovery mode to see if it can do that because if it actually does boot up in that mode, you can try wiping the cache partition and master reset before bringing to the shop. If the problem is due to a bad update, you may be able to fix it by doing that but if not, then you should let the tech handle it for you.
