The report says that this works consistently with the Android Q beta installed, but not so much with Android 9 Pie. Since the camera app already uses a black background, why add this feature? Well, if you're in a dark room or out at night and need to go into the Google Camera app's ... #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

Weekly poll: can the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro win your affections?

Image
Huawei redefined mobile photography this week with the unveiling of its P30 flagships. The phones also adopted OLED acoustic screens and reduced the size of the notch. Let's take a closer look. The 125mm periscope telephoto camera is the crown jewel of the Huawei P30 Pro . It has a fixed focal length, but advanced image processing and data taken from the high-resolution 40MP SuperSpectrum sensor provides a smooth zoom from 1x to nearly 5x (optical), 10x (hybrid) and 50x (digital). SuperSpectrum refers to a custom sensor from Sony that uses yellow pixels instead of blue. The main camera also features a brighter aperture (f/1.6), so it improves on the already class-leading low-light performance of the Mate 20 Pro camera. Both the 40MP and the tele cameras have rock-steady OIS to boot. There's actually a couple of more cameras on here. The ultra-wide angle camera (0.6x), which has autofocus so it can snap stunning macro shots, and the ToF sensor that helps create more

The Spigen Ultra Hybrid is one of the best Galaxy S10 clear cases

Image
Just buy it already. Before we start this review, I'll go ahead and say that clear cases usually aren't my jam. There's nothing inherently wrong with them, it's just never been a case style that I've been particularly drawn to. There are a lot of people that'd disagree with me, however, and for them, the Spigen Ultra Hybrid is one of the best Galaxy S10 cases out there. It has a wonderful fit and finish, doesn't obstruct any of the S10's design, and comes in at a price I think most people will be happy with. Want more info? Here's the full review. Clearly great Spigen Ultra Hybrid From $12 at Amazon An affordable clear case with great protection. Clear cases aren't the most exciting accessory, but for protecting your phone while still showing off its natural design, they're a necessity. One of the best you can get for the S10 is the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. It has a relatively slim profile, tactile button covers, and

Beyond eSIM: How iSIM could turn phones into the ultimate Internet ID

Image
Most modern smartphones still support the classic SIM card (well, the nano variant at least), but a gradually growing number of phones and other consumer gadgets are starting to support eSIM . We might not be too far away from yet another change in SIM tech, as devices could soon start using iSIM. Earlier this year, Arm unveiled its vision for the iSIM – an integrated SIM that fits into a device's system-on-a-chip. In the future, along with a CPU, GPU, LTE or 5G modem, your next phone SoC could also include the SIM card built inside it too. While there might not appear to be a big difference compared to eSIM, iSIM could end up drastically changing the way we use a wide range of connected devices. eSIM vs iSIM eSIM and iSIM are rather similar in a number of respects. Both replace the transferable nano SIM cards with a hardware chip that's permanently fixed inside a user's phone, tablet, or other gadget. When you consider that nano SIM cards are around 12.3 x 8.8 m

Download Emma Flash Tool for Sony Devices

Image
Here is how users can download official Sony Flash Tool Emma for various Sony phones. In efforts to make restoring to stock firmware easier, Sony has come up with its own utility program called Emma that installs latest official firmware on Xperia devices. It is perfect to get back to official software configuration after installing a custom ROM or rooting. There are a couple of things which make Sony flash tool so unique. One, this is a first-party official tool so users can expect reliability and extensive compatibility. Further, Emma is able to directly download latest firmware from Sony servers so users aren't required to first manually find the correct software package and then go through the hassle of making sure it is official. Conveniently, Emma detects the device which it is connected to, relays that information and then lists all updates available for that exact device. Weekend poll: Have you switched away from Inbox yet?

Image
In just a couple of days, Google is set to finally, sadly kill Inbox. The much-loved email client for Gmail may not have supplanted the original's popularity, but its unique feature set paired with a minimal and pleasing interface earned it plenty of fans, with many of them claiming they would hang on until the cold and bitter end. Are you one of them? Every time we've talked about Inbox, our readers have come out of the woodwork to profess their love for its time-saving features, and disappointment at its death. We're still waiting for some of its functionality to come to Gmail , as was once promised, and a large number of you have claimed to be intentionally ignoring the current warnings, aiming to use it until the very last minute. With half a year to make the transition, it seems surprising that so many of our readers are holding onto Inbox. Although this poll will only be relevant for the next two days, the question has to be asked: Have you already ma

Thanks to the tools at your disposal through developers like Media Molecule, you can create your own games simply by owning a PlayStation 4 and having an active imagination. Dreams intends to break down the barrier of what once seemed impossible without devoting years of your life to school and make it accessible to nearly everyone. What is Dreams? Google Camera 6.2 adds settings dark mode, preps ‘Measure mode’ & ‘Cheetah’ [APK Insight]

Image
The latest version of Google Camera began rolling out earlier this week with a handful of visual changes, including a dark mode for settings. Google Camera 6.2 also reveals work on a measuring tool, while development on "Cheetah" continues. About APK Insight : In this 'APK Insight' post, we've decompiled the latest version of an application that Google uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APKs, in the case of Android apps), we're able to see various lines of code within that hint at possible future features. Keep in mind that Google may or may not ever ship these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We'll try to enable those that are closer to being finished, however, to show you how they'll look in the case that they do ship. With that in mind, read on. Measure mode After moving away from Tango for augmented reality, Google last June updated its Measure app to work with ARCore . E
