Sprint Galaxy S10 finally gets camera Night mode with new update

Image
Samsung has added several new features to the Galaxy S10's camera over the last few months. Features such as Night mode and QR scanner were pushed out along with the monthly security patches starting in April. And although we're at the end of July, many Galaxy S10 users in the US are yet to taste these new features. Customers of  AT&T and Verizon were treated with the improvements along with the June security patch earlier this month. And finally, it has arrived for Sprint customers as well.  T-Mobile's June update , meanwhile, came sans the Night mode and QR scanner features. The telecom giant very much plans to offer the foldable Samsung smartphone to its customers once it becomes available. The Galaxy Fold will go on sale in September this year. Deutsche Telekom to carry Galaxy Fold Deutsche Telekom has confirmed to  Notebookcheck  that it will offer the new Galaxy Fold to its customers in Germany. Unfortunately, the largest European telecommunications company didn't share any details about the actual release date and pricing, though the latter has been known for a while now. The original Fold was priced at a whopping 2,000 euros . The Galaxy Fold's new release date isn't actually confirmed yet. Pink Galaxy Note 10 with matching S Pen breaks cover

Image
Are you up for another round of Galaxy Note 10 renders? Well, here it is, this time showcasing the flagship in pink. We've exclusively reported a couple of months ago that the Galaxy Note 10 will be available in pink, at least in some countries. Now the leaked renders at hand offer a first look at how the phablet will look like in this finish. Gradient silver has been the most predominant color in the numerous Galaxy Note 10 press renders that have been leaked so far, but not every Note 10 color option will be iridescent. Much like the simple black finish , it looks like pink will be more subdued and won't have a gradient effect. Instead, it seemingly has a matte finish. Furthermore, the pink Galaxy Note 10 has an S Pen sharing the same color as the device itself, whereas gradient silver models seem to be breaking the mold and feature a blue stylus . Only the smaller Galaxy Note 10 is shown in these fresh renders, but the Galaxy Note 10+ will likely get the same treatment

Galaxy A80 update adds autofocus for shooting selfies

Image
Samsung has pushed out a software update that adds autofocus functionality to the front camera on the Galaxy A80 . For a device with a rotating camera mechanism that enables the use of the same high-quality camera setup for selfies and landscape photos, you'd expect to have all features of that camera setup in both selfie and rear camera mode. That's not the case, however, and it looks like Samsung wants to fix some of that through software updates. As you'll see in our soon-to-be-published Galaxy A80 review, there are quite a few consistency issues between selfie mode and when you're taking photos with the cameras facing away from you. The camera doesn't remember settings between the two modes, neither does it support features like Scene Optimizer or the LED flash when you're taking selfies. The camera assembly itself isn't tested very well and can get stuck in the rotation process  even a week or two after you start using the device, painting a bleak pic

More Galaxy Tab S6 specifications surface online

Image
More details about the Galaxy Tab S6 have surfaced online today. While there's not much left to imagine as far as its design is concerned since we have already leaked live images of the device . There haven't been many reports about the components inside. Now a fresh report throws some light on it. Big battery, 2K display, and more A Taiwanese certification listing earlier this month had revealed that the Galaxy Tab S6 will pack a 6,840mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. However, the new report claims that the battery capacity is 7,040mAh instead, though this could just be rated/actual capacity difference. In either case, the Tab S6 gets a smaller battery than its predecessor, the  Galaxy Tab S4 , which came with a  7,300mAh battery . Battery efficiency, however, should not be compromised thanks to better internals on the Tab S6. The slate features a 10.5 inch AMOLED display of 2K resolution and is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset. The dual rear camera setu

No more free 100GB OneDrive storage for new Galaxy device owners?

Image
Samsung may stop offering free 100GB of Microsoft OneDrive storage to new customers who buy a Galaxy smartphone or tablet with OneDrive pre-installed, according to one of our sources. July 25 may have been the last day someone buying a Galaxy device for the first time would get the OneDrive offer, although Samsung seems to have sent no official notices on the matter, so the offer may still be in place and may be discontinued at a later date. Samsung and Microsoft teamed up way back in 2015 to bundle new Galaxy devices with the latter's suite of productivity apps, including the three main Office apps (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and OneDrive. All flagships and most mid-range devices were included in the partnership, and every user was entitled to free 100GB of extended OneDrive storage for two years. Microsoft reduced the validity of the free 100GB storage to twelve months in April this year, and it seems the offer will cease to exist completely going forward. If the July 25

Galaxy Note 10+ 5G with Exynos 9825 chipset gets benchmarked

Image
The Galaxy Note 10+ 5G carrying the model number SM-N976N appears to have been tested with the online benchmarking tool Geekbench. The phone is equipped with 12GB of RAM and the Exynos 9825 chipset, meaning it's the international variant. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G runs Android Pie, but it will most likely be on track for an early update to Android Q after Google releases it later this year. We've exclusively revealed a couple of weeks ago that Android Q will mark the release of a major One UI update, bumping the proprietary software to version 2.0. In Geekbench, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G powered by the upcoming Exynos 9825 silicon scores around 4,500 points and 10,400 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. The results are relatively on par with the Galaxy S10+, but it does seem like the Exynos 9825 might handle single-core tasks more proficiently than the Qualcomm-powered S10+. Keep in mind that these are preliminary tests. Results are

"Elements of Android Q" Version 0.5 Released

Image
Subscribers now have access to Version 0.5 of Elements of Android Q , in PDF, EPUB, and MOBI/Kindle formats. Just log into your Warescription page to download it, or set up an account and subscribe! Since Q Beta 5 did not change any APIs from Q Beta 4, there were few changes in this update. A short new chapter was added on how to use PackageInstaller , now that ACTION_INSTALL_PACKAGE is deprecated. Most of the remaining changes are bug fixes. I am expecting two more updates to this book: One when Android Q ships as Android 10 to existing devices, to make any tweaks based on the final shipping versions plus perhaps add a bit more of new material One when the next generation of Pixel devices ships, to cover any Android Q things that are at least initially unique to those devices #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

Why you might want to consider skipping the Galaxy Fold in September

Image
With the redesigned Galaxy Fold on the horizon, many smartphone lovers are asking themselves whether or not they should buy it once it will hit the shelves in September . Previously, we've given you a list of reasons why you might want to consider buying Samsung's first foldable phone . But this is a two-way street and, just as well, there are reasons to consider skipping the Galaxy Fold. The elephant in the room: the price The Galaxy Fold is set to launch for around $2,000. There's simply no way around the fact that this is an expensive device. Sure, it's as premium as it can be and it's been in development for many years. It's a costly device to manufacture. The price can be partly justified by the fact that it's both a phone and a tablet, and that buying a top-tier smartphone along with a high-end tablet would cost you about the same as the Fold. However, this is also quite subjective because if you don't care as much about the foldable phone&

Samsung seems to be considering new names for 5G variants of its flagship phones

Image
After years of hype and trials , 5G networks finally started going live in select parts of the world this year. This also means smartphone manufacturers launching 5G devices to use on those networks. Samsung has been quite bullish about 5G – both as a network equipment supplier and a smartphone vendor. Naturally, it was one of the first companies to make a mainstream 5G phone when it launched the Galaxy S10 5G earlier this year. From the leaks, it appears it is going to do the same for the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 as well. With 5G variants set to become common, it appears Samsung is considering new names for these devices. On its SmartLab Plus customer research app, the company has recently put out a survey asking users to select the most memorable name. The options, as seen in the screenshot below, include Samsung Galaxy S10 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10 Performance Edition, Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10 Pro Edition, Samsung Galaxy S10 Speed Edition, and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G.
