Independent Strategy Analytics survey shows the Sony Xperia XZ3 has the best display

Sony has once again tapped Strategy Analytics to conduct an independent testing of the Xperia XZ3 screen. That's the new P-OLED screen with 1,440 x 2,880px resolution.

For the competition, SA gathered what it considered the leading phones on the market. Here's the roster below. Note that the testing was done between August 21 and 23 so the Galaxy Note9 was not available yet.

Here's what the 202 consumers that participated saw. The devices were concealed to eliminate preconceived notions, the brightness was set to maximum (auto brightness off), the image settings were left to default and the test pictures and video was shown simultaneously.

The consumers were shown photos and videos and the Venom movie trailer on YouTube (in standard definition for some reason). Then they were asked to rate each screen on Brightness & Clarity, True life colors, Contrast, Sharpness & Definition and Vibrancy.

Independent Strategy Analytics test shows the Sony Xperia XZ3 has the best display

The end result is an overwhelming victory for the Sony Xperia XZ3 – 70% chose it as the best display, followed by the iPhone X (13%) and LG V30 (9%). Interestingly, the old Triluminos display on the Xperia XZ2 barely got 3% of the vote (why wasn't the XZ2 Premium included?).

Here's the breakdown of the votes in each category:

Brightness & Clarity True to Life Colors Contrast Vibrancy Best Overall Display Quality
Brightness & Clarity • True to Life Colors • Contrast • Vibrancy • Best Overall Display Quality
