Galaxy A10s launched in India, starts at Rs. 9,499

Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy A10s in the Indian market. The smartphone, which was introduced earlier this month, is an entry-level offering and an iterative upgrade to the Galaxy A10. But unlike the original A10, the Galaxy A10s isn't manufactured by Samsung. It is an ODM smartphone.

Galaxy A10s specifications

The Galaxy A10s is equipped with a 6.2-inch Infinity-V display of HD+ resolution (720×1520 pixels). It features a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 13MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth camera. The front-facing camera is an 8MP sensor. Under the hood is an octa-core (quad 2.0GHz + quad 1.5GHz) processor.

The smartphone comes in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 32GB of internal storage space, expandable up to 512GB via a dedicated MicroSD slot. The whole package is powered by a 4,000mAh battery. Additional features include a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the back, face unlocking technology, and Android 9 Pie with Samsung's One UI on top.

The Galaxy A10s will be available in the Indian market from August 28. It is priced at Rs. 9,499 (~$130) for the 2GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant will cost Rs. 10,499 (~$145). The handset comes in three color options – green, blue, and black. It can be purchased through Samsung e-shop and Samsung Opera House, as well as other major online and offline retail channels.

Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. Google Play Points reward program is official, but only in Japan for now

... Earlier this month, Cody discovered evidence for a loyalty program  in a teardown of the Google Play app, and now we're seeing the first official word about it. The rewards scheme is called Play Points and has gone live in Japan, according to a support page for the app. Users can join the program by navigating to the 'Play Points' section in the app's hamburger menu. To begin with, one point will be awarded for every ¥100 (about $0.90) spent on apps and games — to be used on IAPs or converted to Google Play credit — but as you progress, higher levels can be achieved with even greater rewards. Some OnePlus 6Ts have an issue with waves of static on the display

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone.
