With the release of the 512GB BGA NVMe SSD chip, Samsung Electronics has advanced what is possible for a memory drive. Weighing just 1 gram and smaller than a nickel, this solid state drive combines NAND flash memory, DRAM and controller in a tiny but powerful package ideal for ultra-thin laptops and other next-generation devices.

 

How was this possible? Samsung engineers talk about how they overcame many challenges to create this amazing new SSD, and how the drive will impact the future of electronic devices, in this fascinating video.

The Google Pixel 3 XL Teardown by iFixit we featured yesterday revealed the bigger variant offers a whole lot of glue and is a bit challenging to disassemble and repair.
