OnePlus Camera v2.7.19 adds Google Lens shortcut [APK Download]

Image
Earlier this year at I/O, it was revealed that Google Lens would soon arrive in camera apps by other manufacturers , including Motorola, LG, HMD/Nokia, and OnePlus. In the last case, the wait is unofficially over, as version 2.7.19 of the OnePlus Camera app brings a convenient Google Lens shortcut to the camera app for OnePlus devices. OnePlus Camera app v2.6.108 (left) and v 2.7.19 (right), note the extra Google Lens shortcut at bottom left. This new version of the app arrived at our sister site APK Mirror just two days ago, and it's possible that the origin stems from the upcoming Android P Beta 2 for the OnePlus 6. In our testing, it also works with the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 3, though, and it should likely work for other OnePlus phones as well. Those that install the update should see the new Google Lens shortcut appear on the bottom row in the pane which appears when swiping up from the area surrounding the shutter. Give it a tap, and it takes you to the

U.S. carriers confirm they’ll stop selling customer location data to some brokers

Image
Wireless carriers have a lot of information about its subscribers, including data pertaining to customer location. Wireless carriers have been selling that data for years, but it looks like U.S. operators are now changing their practices a bit. First up, Verizon Wireless confirmed in a letter to Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) that it would be cutting off location data from third-party brokers, including institutions it has worked with for quite some time, including Zumigo and LocationSmart. The two brokers were able to use that data and sell it off to over 75 different companies. Verizon says it will be axing those partnership deals with the brokers as soon as possible. AT&T has come forward and said the same thing , adding that it will do so "as soon as practical"with no specific date of termination on the books at the time of publication. Sprint , in a statement to The Verge , confirmed that it would be ending the sale of subscriber location data as well. Speci

PUBG Mobile updated with first person mode, Royale Pass for more spending

Image
PUBG Mobile is a great mobile battle royale game, and unlike Fortnite, is currently available on Android ( though Fortnite is coming soon ). A new update brings some goodies as well as a new way to spend real money, though it isn't all that intrusive. The new feature is called Royale Pass and it adds content for both paying and non-paying players. You can advance through the pass by ranking up, and some of the free ranks will give you things like in-game money, experience, and cosmetic items. If you want to earn more rewards, you can upgrade to one of the paid tiers. The first tier costs $10 and the second costs $35, and both will add a lot more rewards to every rank you get. And of course that fee is per season, so once the season ends you'll have to buy it again. This system is pretty much identical to Fortnite's Battle Pass, even in the way the menu is structured. Thankfully, if you don't want to pay you're not penalized. This isn't exactly pay to

Oppo Find X Is Nearly Bezeless With A Hidden Camera Module: Everything You Need To Know

Image
The Oppo Find X blends a seamless body style with unique functionality, and popular features like Google Lens. Oppo Find X Introduction & Display Oppo has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the Find X, which follows some industry trends but deviates from others to attempt at offering something unique enough to capture the consumer's attention. The most noticeable thing about the phone is that it comes with a nearly bezeless screen that has no notch, a trend which more than a few smartphone manufacturers have implemented in new phones for 2018. Oppo on the other hand has chosen to forego this particular trait, citing that it believes in beautiful design, but to combat the loss of an area on screen where the front-facing camera would have been, Oppo has instead chosen to implement a hidden camera design which it calls the Stealth 3D camera, complete with mechanical components that will slide the camera module up int view when the user is ready to take photos. World Health Organization insists ‘gaming disorder’ is real, and we believe it

Image
It took a while for them to decide, but the World Health Organization (WHO) has now classified " gaming disorder " as a legitimate type of addiction. The WHO has included those who are "addicted" to gaming as part of the latest version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), but of course, there are people who don't agree with them. That said, there are millions of gamers around the world, and we feel that it could be said that some of these gamers are actually addicted to gaming . According to the WHO, there are three primary criteria which should be seen to evaluate gaming addiction . First, the addiction manifests in impaired control over gaming – that is, the gamer being unable to control the frequency, intensity, or duration of when he/she has gaming sessions. The second criterion sees gamers giving increased priority to gaming, and that it takes precedence over other life interests and daily activities. Lastly, gaming will escalat

Google Home adds All 4 as 2nd UK video streaming service

Image
... Google Home users in the United Kingdom are now able to access a second video screaming service by way of Google Home: Channel 4's All 4. This is the second video-on-demand service compatible with Google Home in the UK, after Netflix. All 4 streams some popular shows like "The Handmaid's Tale" and the original "Shameless" series. Users are able to call up shows on All 4 on their TVs just by asking; no need to specify the service when issuing the command. Playback can also be controlled by voice, with commands like "pause," "play," et cetera. International support for Google Home-compatible video services is still lagging behind US options. Compared to the UK's two choices, here in the States, we have access to a total of 10 services including Netflix, YouTube TV, and HBO Now. It's nice that additional services are coming, but I'm sure our overseas friends would appreciate it if they'd

IBM's Project Debater AI is here to argue with humans

Image
The research team behind IBM Watson has just presented an AI capable of debating with people, which could be used for helping organizations make better decisions. Project Debater takes its opponent's arguments into account, along with information from its massive database of papers, and crafts its own arguments. It can even crack jokes, but that's not the only human-like thing about it.  I am afraid of getting hacked. You too? Project Debater got to show off its skills in two debates, on space exploration and telemedicine, against human opponents who happened to be debate champions. It works by pulling information from its database full of hundreds of millions of articles and uses that to craft a compelling argument which can be in response to points made by a human, rather than merely presenting information. This style of free-form debate is another big step forward in AI, beyond the template responses of virtual assistants

Deal: Save $330 on the LG V30S ThinQ at B&H

Image
For the second time in less than a month, customers who want to grab LG's latest flagship smartphone, the V30S ThinQ, can do so for a much lower price than MSRP. Late last month, the phone got a consistent discount on the phone, but the deal wasn't available for too long. Starting this week, B&H Video has re-enabled the same deal, so everyone can buy the LG V30S ThinQ for just $599.99 outright. Well, considering the smartphone is usually available for purchase for $930, this is quite a massive discount. The LG V30S ThinQ has few downsides hardware-wise, such as the fact that it ... #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

T-Mobile, Sprint launch campaign for megamerger approval

Image
T-Mobile and Sprint promised the FCC today that their proposed merger will lower costs for consumers and create more jobs. They also launched a website laying out the advantages of the New T-Mobile to the general public. Combining the third and fourth largest U.S. carriers is a controversial idea. Megamergers typically lead to higher costs for consumers and significant layoffs, not the opposite. It's up to the two companies to convince the FCC that things will be different this time. The combination will be called T-Mobile, and will be headed by John Legere, T-Mobile's current CEO. Legere is positioning the New T-Mobile as a stronger competitor to the "entrenched leaders of the wireless industry," by which he means Verizon and AT&T, who have 33.8 percent and 30.9 percent of the U.S. market, respectively. Will it fly? The $59 billion deal is still just a proposal. T-Mobile and Sprint have to get their merger past government regulators. And this

US Carriers Pledge to Stop Selling Your Location Data to a Couple of Middle Men

Image
US wireless carriers are making headlines today by pledging to cut back on the sale of your location data to some shady middle men who were turning around and re-selling that data. News of these resellers first came to light a few weeks ago when one of them was found to have exposed a whole bunch of real-time locations of customers. For back story on the entire situation, feel free to read this and this . If you don't have time for either, here are the basics. US carriers like Verizon and AT&T have collected your location data and then sold it off to 3rd party resellers who then sell it off to someone else who might have a service to provide. It's apparently a pretty lucrative thing that also has little federal regulation around. A bunch of that data was exposed without much effort, which is not good, since real-time location data would allow someone to know exactly where you are at all times. I'm sure you can think of things that someone could do by knowing
