The best microSD cards for your Galaxy Note 9

Image
The Galaxy Note 9 comes with a hefty amount of storage with the base model at 128GB, but if you want to get more with the 512GB variant, you need to cough up another $250. Granted that version also comes with an extra 2GB of RAM, but that's still a lot more money on top of an already expensive phone. Thankfully, you don't have to splurge for the 512GB Note 9 just to get more storage space. Instead, you can pick up a microSD card for a lot less money and still give yourself some more wiggle room. All-rounder Samsung 128GB EVO Select For $30, you can get Samsung's 128GB EVO Select microSD card and bring you total available storage up to an impressive 256GB. Read and write speeds are rated at 100MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively, and the card's rated to perform in temperatures ranging from -13°F to 185°F. $30 at Amazon Reliability you can count on SanDisk Extreme SanDisk's Extreme series has been the go-to MicroSD recommendation for several years,

Four cameras? First high-res images of Huawei P30 and P30 Pro

Image
The Mate 20 Pro just arrived on the market and we are already talking about the new high-end series from Huawei. The P30 and P30 Pro will be launched in a few months, most likely after the MWC in Barcelona. However, thanks to the manufacturer of cases Olixar we can already take a closer look at the two devices. Here are the first high-resolution images! Have you ever heard of OSIRIS? Choose "Yes, I have!" or "Never heard of it.". Oops! Seems like something went wrong. Reloading might help. Yes, I have! Oops! Seems like something went wrong. Reloading might help. Never heard of it. As it's now happening more and more in the world of smartphones, it is no longer the manufacturers who lift the curtain to give us the first appearance of a flagship. This is also the case with Huawei's top-of-the-range P30 and P30 Pro, which will be arriving next spring. The first images of upcomi

ZTE Nubia X Durability Test: Scratch, burn, and bend to find out

Image
We're not sure if Zack Nelson has done something like this before but this is the first time we're featuring a dual screen phone getting scratched, burned, and bent. Sure, there's the ZTE Axon M but that one has a different design. The Nubia X is a new phone that rolled out with dual screens and absentee selfie camera. There is no front-facing camera because the main camera system at the rear is enough. You can preview your selfies on the secondary display. ZTE didn't implement a notch on this phone but the front display is almost bezel-less. The additional screen at the back helps to minimize the need for a front camera. Instead of a notch or a cutout hole, the company decided to just take advantage of the high-specced rear camera. The main display is a 6.26-inch IPS LCD screen with 2280 × 1080 pixel resolution while the second display is smaller at 5.1-inches OLED with 1520×720 resolution. They are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and both scratch at l

Amazing: NASA engineer uses four Android phones and a glitter bomb to thwart package thieves

Image
Have you ever had a package stolen from the front porch? To the annoyance of many, local law enforcement doesn't always give that the priority one may hope for, which can be quite frustrating. Here's what happens when a vigilante rises from the masses. Mark Rober, a NASA engineer turned YouTuber, is best known for using scientific principles to help us with everyday useful tasks, like surviving a grenade blast, getting out of escape rooms and creating playing card machine guns . After having a couple of packages stolen and being met with an unsympathetic police department, he decided to take things into his own hands. Over the course of several months, he worked with a friend to create the perfect package thief trap, complete with custom silicon, fart spray,  and projectile glitter. Nestled in the packaging of Apple's HomePod, his trap had wide-angle touting LG G5's on all four sides, with an active mobile data plan to track where the thief takes it. A

Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+, Note9, Huawei Mate 20 X, more gaining ARCore support in China

Image
Samsung is introducing their three flagship phones to Google's ARCore in China. ARCore, the basis for Google's best augmented reality experiences, is normally available to install from the Google Play Store. In China however, the Play Store is not accessible. According to an update to the official Google support page , the Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ and Note 9 are all now ARCore compatible in China. Clearly, the company is letting their 2018 flagships lead the charge for ARCore in the country, and we'll likely see more devices gain support in the coming months. Previously, the only two brands with support for ARCore in China, Huawei and Xiaomi, were both Chinese companies, making Samsung the first international company to offer ARCore in the nation. As there is no Play Store in China, Samsung will need to distribute the ARCore app themselves, possibly through the Galaxy Apps store. We're not sure when the ARCore app will be made available for download, if it

Google announces Manhattan campus expansion

Image
... Google first established office space in New York in 2000, in a space that had formerly been a Starbucks. Since then, the company's New York operation has ballooned to more than 7,000 employees working on a range of products, including big-ticket services like Search and Maps. Google has announced that in order to accommodate its growing East Coast workforce, it's set in motion plans to move into three new Lower Manhattan office spaces. With the new properties, the company's full Hudson Square campus will span 1.7 million square feet. Google has leased office space at 315 and 345 Hudson St., and signed a letter of intent to do the same for property at 550 Washington St. The company plans to begin moving into the Hudson Street offices by 2020, and the still-under-construction Washington Street space in 2022. Google has been expanding aggressively lately, this year opening a number of new offices and data centers in Detroit, LA, Alabama,

AT&T will launch its 5G mobile hotspot on December 21

Image
We have known for quite some time that AT&T 's first mobile 5G-ready device wouldn't be a smartphone, but rather a puck-sized mobile hotspot from Netgear . And now we know when it's launching. AT&T on Tuesday officially announced that it will make the Netgear Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot available on Friday, December 21, in a limited capacity. AT&T is proud to announce that the device will mark the big blue wireless carrier's first mobile 5G-ready device for consumers and business customers. And yes, this means that AT&T will be able to yell out, "First!" when it comes to launching a mobile 5G product, along with its own mobile 5G network, for customers to actually access. The launch is very limited to start. AT&T today turned on mobile 5G, based on the mmWave spectrum, in 12 markets: Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Louisville, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Raleigh, San Antonio and Waco. However, it&#

Lenovo Z5 Pro is the first smartphone with Snapdragon 855

Image
Surprise, surprise: the first smartphone equipped with SoC Snapdragon 855 to be officially presented, including prices and availability, comes from Lenovo and its name is the Z5 Pro. The Chinese company has just announced that there will be a variant of the Z5 Pro with the latest Qualcomm chip combined with 12GB of RAM! Have you ever heard of CERBER? Choose "No, I have never." or "Yes, I have.". Oops! Seems like something went wrong. Reloading might help. No, I have never. Oops! Seems like something went wrong. Reloading might help. Yes, I have. Some call it the Z5 Pro, others the Z5 Pro GT or even the Z5 Pro 855. There is still some confusion following the official launch of the smartphone, but what is certain are the monstrous specs of Lenovo's new flagship. Externally the new smartphone offers nothing new. We find the same sliding mechanism already seen on the variant of Z5

The Huawei P20 , P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro along with other flagship smartphones from the company have been running the beta version of the EMUI 9 software based on Android 9.0 Pie and now, the final and stable release is ready to roll out. So if you are a P20, P20 Pro or Mate 10 Pro owner and you live in Europe, you should see a message prompting you to update to the latest version. What to watch this week on ESPN+

Image
All the things. You can watch all the things. (And this will tell you when they're on.) The sports giant that is ESPN continues its push into the 20th Century with ESPN+, which already has amassed more than a million subscribers. (And at $4.99 a month or $49 a year, that's definitely starting to pay off for its owner, Disney.) The question, then, is this: What the heck can you watch on ESPN+, and when can you watch it? The answer is a whole lot of stuff . There's original programming. There's live sports. There's news. There's opinion. There's new stuff all the time. A cool thing about ESPN+ (and streaming services in general, actually) is that you get a free seven-day trial. So if you're not 100 percent sure you're going to want to stick with things, you can give it a whirl and then get out. Or just sign on for a month and take it from there. Your call. Either way, you're about to get a whole bunch more sports — available pretty

Google Home can now read events from shared G Suite calendars

Image
One of the most frequently requested Google Home features is support for G Suite calendars. For many of us, our personal calendar doesn't have many events, it's our work one that's filled to the brim with appointments and meetings. However, until recently, Google Home couldn't read events from those if they were shared from a G Suite account. Now, it can. Multiple calendars on Google Home have been available for over a year, but the limitations were many. They didn't support birthday and holiday calendars, or shared calendars created by a G Suite account, or even imported calendars, and so on. Imported iCal and URL calendars were added a few months ago, and now it seems that G Suite-created calendars are finally supported as well. Our tipster Dave mentioned that for the first time today, when he said "Good Morning" to his Google Home, it read events from his work calendar, which is shared from a G Suite account. I tested the same on my G

Lenovo Z5 Pro GT packs 12GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 855 w/ slider design, arrives January

Image
Lenovo's mobile division has pulled the rug out from under us before with false expectations , but with its latest launch, the company is blowing expectations out of the water. The new Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is not only the first device with a Snapdragon 855, but also packs a whole lot more. The best gifts for Android users Looking at the spec sheet first and foremost, there's no word aside from impressive that can describe what we're seeing here. The Snapdragon 855 processor which just debuted last month is at the core of this phone, and the Z5 Pro GT's January release date sets it as the first device to launch with the processor. That processor would already have this phone making headlines, but more impressively it also packs the most RAM we've ever seen in a smartphone – 12GB of RAM. Just recently OnePlus brought huge amounts of RAM to the "mainstream" with its McLaren Edition OnePlus 6T and 10GB of RAM , but Lenovo is breakin
