We had  exclusively reported earlier this month that Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch 3 and the bean-shaped  Galaxy Buds Live in July, ahead of the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2 in August . We also exclusively leaked the specifications of the company's upcoming smartwatch. Over the past week, press renders of the Galaxy Watch 3 have been leaked, teasing the launch date of the wearable. The leaked press render image of the Galaxy Watch 3 teases '22' and 'Wed' on its watch face. In fact, July 22 is indeed on a Wednesday, leading us to believe that the smartwatch will officially debut on July 22. Samsung might not hold a press conference for the announcement of the Galaxy Watch 3 and the Galaxy Buds Live due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. The Galaxy Watch 3 will come in two sizes (41mm and 45mm), two case options ( stainless steel and titanium ), and three colors (black, bronze, and silver). The 41mm version of the smartwatch w

How sweet it is! This Googler carves fruit into art

During work hours, Leonard Ko collaborates with teams of engineers on Pixel phones. But he's also known for a unique talent outside of tech: creating intricate sculptures out of fruit. It turns out fruit is just the latest medium for Leonard, who has been creating art for decades—and only recently decided to make his art edible.  Leonard Ko in his kitchen. Leonard has always been interested in expressing himself through art, and first worked on traditional Chinese paintings and oil paintings of landscapes. But eventually, his love of art translated into making art out of food.  At first, his prowess in the kitchen came through baked goods. "I liked to bake cakes and pipe them with buttercream and chocolate, but they are so sweet and unhealthy," Leonard says. He changed his materials to avoid all the junk food. "I chose the art of fruit, since it's natural and healthy," he says. For the past three years, Leonard has bee

Galaxy Note 20, Fold 2, Tab S7 rumored to ship with Snapdragon 865+

Image
Samsung may want to equip the Galaxy Note 20 series, the Galaxy Fold 2 , the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and the Galaxy Tab S7 duo with the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset in some markets after all. This is true at least according to a fresh rumor passed along the Twitter leaker sphere despite the claims of earlier reports on the matter. A couple of months ago, the head of Meizu Technology Marketing claimed that Qualcomm has no intentions to push the Snapdragon 865+ into mass production this year, meaning that, in turn, Samsung's upcoming flagships will use the existing Snapdragon 865 chipset in some markets. Only time will tell if this will indeed be the case in regards to Qualcomm's manufacturing plans for the near future, but so far, there hasn't been much evidence to support a 2020 launch for the Snapdragon 865+. Snapdragon 865+ was seemingly spotted in a benchmark The Snapdragon 865+ was apparently benchmarked in AnTuTu a few weeks ago, at first glance s

Samsung Display led the global market in Q1, largely thanks to OLED

Image
Samsung Display maintained the lead in the smartphone display market throughout Q1 2020, reveals a new report from Strategy Analytics . Global revenues have increased by 3% year-over-year, with the entire smartphone display market registered total revenues of $9 billion over the previous quarter. The trend in Q1 2020 was a higher demand for OLED solutions and an oversupply of LCD panels due to falling demand. Global revenues got bumped up slightly only thanks to the increase in popularity for OLED panels, and because Samsung Display is the leading OLED distributor in the world, the company was able to capitalize on this higher demand and managed to cover 52% of the global smartphone display market by the end of Q1 2020. Samsung Display was followed by BOE Technology and Tianma Microelectronics. Flexible OLED technology also proves to be a success LCD technology seems to be on its way out, not only in regards to smartphones but also larger panels. Samsung already decided to end pr

T-Mobile starts pushing out One UI 2.1 to Galaxy Note 9 owners

Image
The wait lasted for nearly a month , but American owners of the Galaxy Note 9 who also happen to be T-Mobile customers are finally receiving One UI 2.1. The update that adds a wide variety of new functionalities to Samsung's 2018 flagship began rolling out several hours back, as confirmed by several users as of this writing. While Sprint and T-Mobile are now one and the same, that wasn't the case when the Galaxy Note 9 was first released, meaning Sprint customers are still waiting for their carrier to begin deploying the latest update. Galaxy Note 9 owners on T-Mobile's network can attempt triggering a manual update by launching their  Settings  app, selecting,  Software update , and tapping the  Update and install  option on the following screen. As always, full system images will be available for download from  SamMobile's  firmware archive shortly following their official debuts. Galaxy S20 July update lands in more markets with a different changelog

Image
The July 2020 security update for the Galaxy S20 series is now rolling in more markets including Germany and the UAE. However, it turns out that the latest update doesn't have the same changelog in these regions as it does in South Korea, and instead, it carries a slightly older one. The new firmware version G98xFXXU3ATFG  for the Exynos-powered international Galaxy S20 models arrives with the July 2020 security patch but it doesn't bring improved video stabilization, higher quality zoomed-in photos, or the ability to use a Bluetooth microphone when recording audio with the Voice Recording app. Instead, the latest update that's being rolled out for the international Galaxy S20 has the same changelog as the previous  G98xxXXU2ATE6  update . It changes the way close-up zoom functions but that's about all there is to it. Nevertheless, we suspect that the more recent changes that were introduced in South Korea last week will eventually become more widely-available, p

Bringing free retail listings to Google Search

Image
When shopping online, it can be daunting to find the right product, the best seller, or the best value. People often have many high quality choices available but aren't always aware of them all or don't have an easy way to access them. For many merchants, connecting with customers in a digital environment is still relatively new territory or a smaller part of their business. However, consumer preference for online shopping has increased dramatically, and it's crucial that we help people find all the best options available and help merchants more easily connect with consumers online. Free listings on Google Search We recently announced that product results on the Google Shopping tab in the U.S. will consist primarily of free listings. This change has already produced a significant increase in user engagement, with both clicks and impressions up substantially for merchants, meaning consumers are finding more of the products they're looking for from a wi

Image
Samsung is bringing its latest Mediatek-powered budget phone, the Galaxy A31 , to Spain . The device has been officially launched in the country in two color options, with 64GB of on-board storage and 4GB of RAM. The Galaxy A31 offers premium specifications   such as a quad camera and a 5,000mAh battery in an entry-level device , said Marketing Director of Samsung Spain, Luis de la Peña. The Galaxy A31 is one of Samsung's few smartphones that don't employe an Exynos or Snapdragon chipset. Instead it uses the MediaTek Helio P65 featuring two ARM Cortex-A75 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 low-power cores, as well as a Mali-G52 MC2 graphics chip. A decent package for anything but gaming Samsung's Galaxy A31 can be described as a solid budget phone for people who don't care much about mobile gaming. Low gaming performance is one of its biggest downsides, however, the device can perform other regular daily tasks with ease. Mobile photography is also not somethin
