Galaxy S20 July update lands in more markets with a different changelog

The July 2020 security update for the Galaxy S20 series is now rolling in more markets including Germany and the UAE. However, it turns out that the latest update doesn't have the same changelog in these regions as it does in South Korea, and instead, it carries a slightly older one.

The new firmware version G98xFXXU3ATFG for the Exynos-powered international Galaxy S20 models arrives with the July 2020 security patch but it doesn't bring improved video stabilization, higher quality zoomed-in photos, or the ability to use a Bluetooth microphone when recording audio with the Voice Recording app.

Instead, the latest update that's being rolled out for the international Galaxy S20 has the same changelog as the previous G98xxXXU2ATE6 update. It changes the way close-up zoom functions but that's about all there is to it. Nevertheless, we suspect that the more recent changes that were introduced in South Korea last week will eventually become more widely-available, presumably alongside other monthly security updates bound to be released in the coming weeks.

To grab the latest firmware and the July 2020 security update for the Exynos-powered Galaxy S20 series you can check our firmware archive and browse for your particular model and region. You can also wait for the update to arrive on your device, or go to Settings, Software update, and tap Download and install to attempt to trigger the update process manually.
