Entry level Gionee P5 mini unveiled with 4.5-inch display, quad-core CPU

Chinese manufacturer Gionee has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone. Dubbed P5 mini, the device is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz Mediatek MT6580M‎ chipset, and sports a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixel resolution) IPS display. It has 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable internal memory, and packs in an 1,800mAh battery. In terms of camera, the device features a 5MP rear unit and a 2MP front shooter. For its size, no competitor offers so much in terms of photo quality. It goes without saying that Samsung is going to spend a lot of money on marketing to get the word out that its new flagship smartphone is the one you should be buying this year. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at an event in New York City today. Since it was an invite-only event, although it was streamed live online, Samsung decided to spend a lot of money to tell New Yorkers that the Galaxy S8 has arrived. Samsung illuminated the iconic Times Square in New York City with immersive displays reflective of the visual experience that the Galaxy S8′s Infinity Display promises. It basically bought out almost every available signage to announce the arrival of its newest flagship smartphone. As if that wasn’t enough, it even brought in a troupe of performers who danced “in celebration of the debut of the Galaxy S8.” Good stuff.
