Oppo patents new slider design that allows for a high screen-to-body-ratio

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has published (via GSM Arena) a patent awarded to Chinese phone manufacturer Oppo. The company's Oppo Find X was the first smartphone to feature a slider design; the slider hides the front-facing camera and dual rear cameras until needed. Now, Oppo's new slider design includes dual cameras that are mounted on the back of the phone, never hidden from view. Meanwhile, the slider holds a pair of front-facing selfie cameras.

AT&T rolls out improved prepaid plans

AT&T today rolled out some changes to its prepaid plans , and they're all for the better. First up, AT&T has ditched its 6GB plan and replaced it with an 8GB plan. The regular price of the 8GB plan is a bit more than the 6GB plan — $50 vs $45 — but if you enroll in autopay, the 8GB plan will cost you the same $40 per month as the 6GB plan. This plan includes 8GB of high-speed data, unlimited talk and text to Mexico and Canada, and the ability to use your talk, text, and data in Mexico and Canada. Like AT&T's other prepaid plans, it also includes unlimited talk and text in the U.S. Also of note is that AT&T is making its $65 unlimited plan cheaper for those that enroll in autopay. Previously this plan would cost $60 per month with autopay, but now it'll cost $55 per month with autopay. This plan includes unlimited high-speed data but no mobile hotspot or HD video streaming. If you are in the US, and are looking to purchase a dual SIM variant of Samsung's Galaxy S9 smartphone, here's a deal for you: a Top Rated Plus eBay seller is offering the device for $660. Keep in mind the variant on offer is global one, meaning it comes with the Exynos chipset (US models, in case you aren't aware, are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC). Once again, the year is drawing to a close. Of course, we also looking back over a year of reporting right here in the office, but what has inspired us the most in the past twelve months? In this article our editors introduce you to their personal highlights of the year. The year 2017 was quite an interesting one, but it was also somewhat boring at times. Like every year, of course, every big-name manufacturer released their latest flagships with every single one of them becoming increasingly expensive.
