In its blog post, Google notes that consumers in Southeast Asia are expected to spend $88.1 billion online by 2025, and that consumers in general in the Asia-Pacific region are ready to buy, but are not that easy to please. Google has announced that it will invest $550 million in JD.com, as the company wants to "accelerate how retail ecosystems deliver consumer experiences". Google said that applying JD.com's supply chain and logistics expertise to its own technology strengths will help the company explore new ways retail chains can improve their business, in other words, how can they make shopping experiences more enjoyable for consumers. Oppo Find X to have a 93.8% screen to body ratio

Image
Oppo is introducing the long-awaited true flagship tomorrow under the name Find X. The phone was teased several times by the company on Weibo, but the latest image gives us some information on the display. According to the post, the Find X will have a massive 93.8% screen to body ratio with practically non-existent top bezel. According to a video ad that appeared during the weekend on CCTV1, the phone will not have cameras on the front or back. Instead, the whole top side of the rim will rise and that's where the dual camera setup, including the LED flash, will be hidden. VIDEO If the image is real and not some marketing trick, this will be the second impressive innovation in a week, just after vivo introduced the NEX phones with the selfie camera periscoping from the top. Tomorrow's launch is taking place in Paris and we are at the venue to cover the Oppo flagship and to give you our hands-on impressions right after the announcement. Source (in Chinese)

Samsung Good Lock is coming back and it looks good

Image
If you had a Samsung device back when Android was still in its Marshmallow phase, then you are probably familiar with the Good Lock app which they introduced during that period. It allowed users to customize their Samsung UI, especially on the lock screen itself. As we know, the more you can change things to your liking and the easier you can do it, the better. That is why a lot of people prefer Android over the other side. But for some reason, when Nougat rolled out a year later, the app was discontinued. They kept promising to bring it back someday, but they never did. Well, apparently, they have finally fulfilled that promise, at least in their home country. Screenshots have emerged showing that the Good Lock app is back and looking better than ever. Well, at least, from the screenshots that we're seeing. The images came from noted leaker Ice Universe and shows the different things that you'll be able to customize from the app. This includes being able to create ro

Everything that's new in OxygenOS

Image
OxygenOS is the software that powers OnePlus phones, and even if you're not enrolled in the Open Beta, it's still frequently updated with new features and bug fixes to keep an eye out for. It can be tough to keep track of what's new, so we'll be updating this guide with each new OxygenOS update that's rolled out. The OxygenOS 5.1.7 build won't be making its way to Indian users, and OnePlus is instead rolling out the 5.1.8 build, which offers the same fixes as the global build. The 5.1.8 build also includes system and network stability fixes, and features optimizations to the call quality. June 8, 2018 — OnePlus 6 gets Portrait Mode f

Samsung may launch a 512GB Galaxy Note 9, but fans in US and Europe might miss out

Image
Samsung could release a 512GB version of the Galaxy Note 9. Current rumors conflict about where exactly it will be released, although Korea and China seem like safe bets. The most internal storage available on the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9 is 256GB. Samsung is said to be preparing to release a  Galaxy Note 9  variant with 512GB in certain markets. Leaker  Ice Universe  suggested this on Twitter yesterday, stating it was headed to China and Korea only.  SamsungMobile.News  (as pointed out by Phone Arena ) is slightly more optimistic, however, saying that it could come to other markets too (but it  ruled out Europe ). Samsung’s cancelled Project Valley foldable phone prototype revealed in pictures

Image
Samsung has been working on making foldable smartphones a reality for a long time. We were the first to reveal the company's plans for a foldable device dubbed Project Valley three years ago, although Samsung never got around to actually releasing such a phone. Now, images of what is apparently the Project Valley phone have leaked online, and they are a good indication of why Samsung didn't deem the product good enough to bring it to market. A fancy take on a regular smartphone with two displays? As you can see in the images, Samsung's early foldable phone was simply a regular smartphone with a second display panel attached to it with a folding hinge. It's a rather unattractive design that would have seemed out of place at a time when the Korean giant launched the beautiful Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. It would certainly have garnered a lot of attention as no other manufacturer would have had something similar to offer at the time, but Samsung clearly wasn't

Motorola has patented a solution for deformities in foldable phone displays

Image
Despite the abundance headlines in recent times that may suggest only Samsung is working on foldable phones, Motorola is among one of the many others that are working on prototypes and has now been granted a patent that could fix any potential deformities. Regardless of the flexible nature of OLED displays, folding them multiple times can ultimately lead to deformities in the flexible area of the panel. This deformity isn't necessarily permanent, but would ultimately affect the user experience, hence the adoption of a new heat-based technology that should allow the flexible areas to be ... #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews
