PUBG Mobile is getting first-person perspective, Royale Pass Season 1 in latest update

Image
The folks over at Tencent have just released yet another major update for PUBG Mobile, which brings a bucketload of new features and improvements. The most important is the new first-person perspective, which offers players a more immersive gameplay experience. Of course, you can switch to third-person view if you don't like the new mode or find that your performance is better using this specific perspective. Another important addition to the game is the Royale Pass Season 1, which allows players to unlock battle points, cosmetic rewards, and experience boosters while playing the game ... #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

New TP-Link Deco M9 Plus Mesh Routers Are Also Smart Hubs

Image
TP-Link has announced a new mesh router system called TP-Link Deco M9 Plus which combines the best Wi-Fi features available with smart hub technologies and comes in either two-pack bundles or in singles. It also introduces a couple of novel features that allow for more than 100 devices to be connected. That's bound to be a useful selling point with consideration for the ever-increasing number of IoT , home automation, and other "smart" devices hitting the market. Meanwhile, as with nearly all mesh router systems, the signals are managed as a single network, allowing for seamless switching between connections to each individual node. Better still, security is built right in thanks to a partnership with TrendMicro which enables both robust Wi-Fi security and HomeCare to keep all of those devices safe. Breaking down the various specs and capabilities of the new Deco M9 Plus mesh routers, a two-pack should cover approximately 4,500-square feet. Presumably, more routers can

Beta version of Microsoft Edge natively blocks those annoying ads

Image
The latest beta for Microsoft Edge for Android features native ad blocking through Adblock Plus. You can enable or disable Adblock Plus within Edge's settings. Microsoft Edge is far from the most popular browser on Android . That being said, its beta version received a new update that brings support for native ad blocking, reported  MSPoweruser . Typically available as an extension for other browsers, Adblock Plus is built directly into the browser. When you go to Settings, you will see the new "Block Content" submenu that lets you either turn Adblock Plus on or off. Once enabled, Adblock Plus lives up to its name and blocks banners, tracking, pop-ups, and obtrusive ads. As useful as Adblock Plus is, the service garnered some heat over its decision to whitelist ads as part of its "Acceptable Ads" project. AdBlock Plus parent company Eyeo did not say which companies it partners with for the project, though some people might see that as a conf

PUBG Mobile inches closer to Fortnite with Royale Pass in update 0.6.0

Image
Update 0.6.0 for PUBG Mobile adds a Royale Pass, which is eerily similar to Fortnite's Battle Pass. With the purchase of the Elite Upgrade or Elite Upgrade Plus, players gain access to additional rewards as they progress. The popular FPP mode was also adapted for PUBG Mobile, as well as a number of other new modes and improvements. It's hard to believe, but Tencent's PUBG Mobile has already been out for more than two months. Since then, Fortnite has made the move to iOS, and consistently out-earned its grittier competition. That might finally change with the PUBG Mobile 0.6.0 update. It adds a number of features, including a "Royale Pass" with a progression system that's virtually identical to Fortnite's Battle Pass. It's hard to call it a rip-off, since the idea is older than the Battle Royale genre, but it's clear what inspired the addition. PUBG Mobile's Royale Pass vs Fortnite's Battle Pass The basic Royale

Android 8.1 Oreo rolling out to the Amazon Prime and retail Moto X4

Image
... Amazon's Prime Edition phones don't have ads anymore, but there is some Amazon bloat that can affect updates. However, Amazon and Moto have managed t keep the retail and Prime versions in sync. About a month after the Android 8.1 update hit the Android One Moto X4 , the Amazon and retail versions are getting the OTA (version OPW28.2). The phone already had Android 8.0 , so there won't be many changes here. The changelog below promises a new security patch, and that's about it. Android 8.1 generally includes a handful of UI tweaks and some new developer APIs. Both the retail Moto X4 and Amazon Prime version are unlocked. The only difference is on the software side. Amazon's variant is $20 cheaper and has about a dozen Amazon apps pre-loaded. #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

Xbox and VR: the game is over and VR won

Image
Microsoft presented some interesting things at E3, including a preview of its own game streaming service. Strangely enough, one topic was missing: virtual reality and the Xbox. Microsoft has all the pieces in place to become an important player. But the fact that Microsoft isn't going all-in is good news for the VR industry. I would like to protect myself from ransomware for free. Do you agree? Windows Mixed Reality may not be the best VR platform, but it has concrete advantages. It requires no cables around the room since the headset provides the tracking. A WMR headset is connected via HDMI and USB, and nothing more is needed. The only thing that could be simpler is the setup of the controllers. It's actually the perfect approach to get VR into your living room and to turn Xbox gamers into VR customers. Sure, the headset cables are annoying, but why does Microsoft make every effort to have a big presence on PCs, but not

Amazon Targets Hospitality Market With Alexa Experiences

More specifically, it has officially announced a new initiative called Alexa for Hospitality that will attempt to bring on various hotels in offering Alexa functions to their guests. This will be an invitation-only service for the time being but Amazon already has partners on board that will putting Alexa in their room for people who stay at their establishments. At the moment Amazon is currently only partnering with Marriott International, but Marriott International includes a wide range of hotels including Aloft Hotels, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, and Autograph Collection Hotels. That said Amazon also notes that these experiences will be available this Summer but doesn't mention exact dates, or if the experiences will be available in every hotel location from these specific hotels. As for what the experiences will include, Amazon notes that hotels which are inv

August & Alarms.com Team Up On New Smart Lock App Features

Image
Smart lock maker August Home has now announced a new partnership with Alarm.com which it claims will make locking and unlocking doors to a home both a lot easier and more secure. For those who may not be aware, Alarm.com is a U.S-based company that offers cloud-based security solutions in partnership with security panel suppliers such as DSC, Interlogix, Nortek, and Qolsys. This new partnership ties Alarm.com's services together with August's own connected door locks, adding the latter company's smart locks to the devices supported by Alarm.com. That opens up tons of possibilities when it comes to controlling how and when those smart locks secure or unlock an entryway. Not least among those new features is August integration with Alarm's "Scenes." Scenes allow for multiple August locks to be interacted with simultaneously, along with other supported devices on that ecosystem. By way of example, using the associated app to set a "secure" scene migh

Google Podcasts app now available on Android

Image
Google has released its own podcasting app for Android, called Google Podcasts. The app is now available for free on the Google Play Store. There is no iOS app available at the moment nor have they announced any plans on releasing one. Google Podcasts is a very simple podcasting app. You can search and subscribe to podcasts and Google includes a fairly robust library of podcasts so you'll find almost anything here. Once subscribed, episodes can be downloaded for offline playback or just streamed. Progress syncs across your Google account and you can continue playing on the Google Home where you left on your phone. Apart from that, the app doesn't do much. You can't import an OPML file so if you use another podcasting file you have no option but to re-subscribe to all your podcasts, which for some could be many. You can adjust playback speed but you can't skip over silences like some other podcasting apps (Google claims this feature is present but I couldn'

Hands-on: Google One app makes it easy to manage storage, family plans, support, more [Gallery]

Back in May, Google announced that it would be revamping its cloud storage offerings and bundling it with customer support and more under a new "Google One" umbrella. Although its app was released shortly after that, the switchover hadn't gone live, until now. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Going hands-on with the new Google One app for Android, we're met front and center by the amount of cloud storage you're currently using. This 'Home' tab also populates with other cards that highlight the different sections of the app. These various sections include Storage, Benefits, Support, and Settings. As you can see from the screenshots below, switching over to Storage again shows you how much cloud storage you're using, but with additional details about which services (Google Drive, Gmail, Google Photos) are taking up space. At the bottom of this tab, you can manage your storage plan and choose to go with a larger or smaller allotme

Google will add security metadata to apps from the Play Store

Image
Google is soon adding a small amount of metadata to every APK coming from the Play Store. This will allow Google to verify that the APK is legit, even if the APK was not downloaded directly from the Play Store. This feature is more for areas where mobile data is limited and peer-to-peer sharing of APKs is common. If these APKs have the metadata, they can be confirmed safe even when the device is offline and later updated via the Play Store. This not only helps people get safe and updated apps, but it also helps developers as the app registers as added to one's Play Store library and makes sure your apps aren't stuck on an older version. Plus developers don't need to do anything for this new feature to work. Hit the source link for more info! #Google #Android #Smartphones #OS #News @ndrdnws #ndrdnws #AndroidNews

Nuu Mobile G3 review: Sexy, with a side of substance

Image
As we hit the middle of 2018, one of the most common words used to describe a phone is "premium". But, what exactly does that mean, though? A few years back it was used to signal the difference between a plastic, polycarbonate phone from one that was built with a combination of glass and metal. Replaceable batteries went the way of the dodo bird as phones closed up tightly and incorporated waterproof protection. Indeed, the high end devices of 2015 looked strikingly more beautiful and more put together than a budget phone. Here we are today and everything smacks of 'premium'. In other words, it's not as easy to tell a top-tier flagship from an entry-level device. A $200 handset, at first blush, doesn't look all that different from an $800 one. For most people, a basic smartphone is all that they need for a daily driver. Sure, the specs from a brand new model are drool-worthy; that is, if you care about the internals. But, when it comes down to it, ma
