Android Things Starter Kit now available to purchase – gets you going with simple experiments

After the release of Android Things 1.0

earlier this week

, the first Android Things Starter Kit is now on-sale in the US.

The Android Things Starter kit includes everything you need to get started, including an NXP i.MX7 developer board, as well as a Camera Module, 5 Inch display, Pimroni Rainbow HAT board, Wifi antenna and all the cables you need – you even get a screwdriver and a cardboard body to put it all in. The kit is available through Tech Nexion and Digi-Key. Tech Nexion have the board for sale for for $199USD and they will ship to Australia for an additional $30USD. Digi-Key has it for $200USD but will ship to Australia for free.

Once you've got your board, there are instructions on how to assemble the board on the Android Things Developer site. These instructions even include links to simple projects you can do to test the Rainbow HAT board, and even a basic usage of TensorFlow to detect and classify objects with the camera module.

If you're a little more adventurous you'll find the Samples section of the Android Things website a little more interesting, with links and instructions on how to build various projects based on Android Things.
