Pixel 2's color profile picker adds reference photo on Android P DP2

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have a "Colors" setting in their display options that lets you tune your screen's color saturation and temperature to your liking by choosing between "Natural," "Boosted," and "Saturated" options. In Android P's Developer Preview 2, the menu now shows a photo—a cloudy sunset behind a couple of palm trees—so you can more immediately see the effects of your choice.

Previously, the screen was mostly white, and to really know what you were changing, you'd have to look at something more colorful—either your home screen or another app. In theory, it's a little quality-of-life tweak that makes a lot of sense, but the specific photo Google used isn't all that helpful in determining how your screen is calibrated.

The image is kind of dark and it's mostly cool hues, with just a little orange here and there. Ideally, the page would show multiple images with differing palettes, or at least a single image with more color in it. This is still preview software, though, so it's liable to change before its commercial release.

Waymo and Uber has reached a settlement in their self-driving car case. The announcement came as a big shock, even though I wrote yesterday that Waymo's case was looking oddly weak . Parties are free to settle in the middle of trial (heck, they can settle while the jury is considering a verdict, and they can settle even after the verdict is out) but it's pretty rare. For one thing, it's hard to think about negotiating when you're busy prepping for trial the next day. For another thing, if you were going to settle, you probably should have done it before. It's pretty messy to call off the boxing match in the middle of the third round. Taking any case to trial — let alone such a high-profile case — is messy and exorbitantly expensive, and on top of that, jury verdicts are unpredictable. 2018 Samsung QLED TVs will be revealed on March 7

At CES 2018 , Samsung showcased its vision for TVs and other home appliances in the IoT era. Though the company showcased  'The Wall,' its first 146-inch modular MicroLED TV , and an 8K QLED TV at the event, it didn't launch any of the mainstream QLED TVs for 2018 at the event. The more mainstream SmartTVs were expected to launch at a later date. 2018 Samsung QLED TVs will feature Bixby Earlier this month, a report from Korea stated that Samsung is going to launch a new Bixby-powered TV in New York in March. In line with the news, Samsung has scheduled an event titled 'The First Look' for March 7 at the American Stock Exchange in Manhattan, New York. It will be part of Samsung's global launch event for its 2018 QLED TV lineup. Samsung has already  outlined the new features coming to the 2018 SmartTV lineup .
