THIS IS QLED TV, Part 6: The Convergence of TV and AI

Image
In April 2017, the market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) made a prediction that the cognitive and artificial intelligence (AI) system market will continue its high growth of a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 54.5 percent by 2020 . The characteristics of AI systems such as prediction, recommendation and intelligent assistance are expected to take important roles in creating intelligent services.   These functions of AI are already influencing consumer electronics, especially smartphones and TV products. The convergence of AI and TV is subtle, but it is a trend that is taking place and will continue to develop. Let’s look at the convergence of TV and AI and how it will change the future TV viewing, particularly for Samsung QLED TVs.     For Overwhelming Content, AI Is Necessary People no longer just view channels provided by TV broadcasters. There are terrestrial networks, cable TV, satellite channels, internet protocol TV (IPTV) and even over the top

Galaxy Note 8 may be offered in a new ‘Deep Blue’ color

Samsung introduced the Coral Blue color option with the Galaxy Note 7 last year. The device didn’t survive but the color did. It was very well received and Samsung kept it around even after discontinuing the Galaxy Note 7 by releasing the Galaxy S7 edge in Coral Blue . It’s also selling the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in Coral Blue . Samsung’s 2017 flagships are also offered in Midnight Black and Orchid Grey colors. Word on the street is that both of these color options will be offered with Samsung’s upcoming flagship. It’s also said that the Galaxy Note 8 will be offered in a new “Deep Blue” color option. How this new color option will look on the Galaxy Note 8 is anybody’s guess right now. Customers will certainly appreciate having more choice. The more the merrier, I say, so long as Samsung releases all color options at launch and doesn’t make customers wait for them unnecessarily. The company confirmed a couple of days ago that it’s going to officially launch the Galaxy Note 8 on

Samsung may launch Bixby-powered earphones alongside the Galaxy Note 8

Image
Samsung confirmed earlier this week that it’s going to unveil the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 . If a new report out of South Korea is believed, the Galaxy Note 8 may not be the only product that Samsung launches that day. It’s reportedly going to launch Bixby-powered earphones alongside the new flagship phablet. While the report claims that the Bixby earphones will be launched with the Galaxy Note 8, it doesn’t clarify if Samsung is going to ship them with the new handset or if they’re only going to be sold as a standalone accessory. It seems that the product will be similar to Apple’s AirPods but Samsung is reportedly going to kick things up a notch by also integrating noise cancellation technology. The unnamed product will signal a big change in the way we interact with these products by primarily relying on voice-based and not touch-based controls. An unnamed Samsung official mentioned in the report says that the Bixby-powered earphones aren’t final yet so it’s possible that the

Galaxy S8 Active live pictures leaked

Image
We exclusively reported three months ago that Samsung had the Galaxy S8 Active in the pipeline . Like previous “Active” variants before it, the Galaxy S8 Active codenamed “Cruiser” will be exclusive to AT&T in the United States. We’ve only ever seen leaked renders of the Galaxy S8 Active and while they have given us a good idea of what to expect from the device, nothing beats images of the actual device itself. Several live pictures of the Galaxy S8 Active have now been leaked online. The sturdy device has the same internals as the regular Galaxy S8 packed inside a durable body built to the MIL-STD-810G standard. It has the same Exynos 8895 processor, however, it swaps the dual-edge curved display for a 5.8-inch flat AMOLED display. It may not be long before Samsung officially announces the Galaxy S8 Active. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen it surface on benchmarking websites multiple times. The handset has also received its FCC approval and various certifications. T

[Poll] Attention, America: Are you happy with Bixby Voice?

Earlier this week, Samsung finally released Bixby Voice for the Galaxy S8 in the United States. The news came following what felt like a lifetime of delays, which stemmed from the firm not having the resources it needed to translate the platform from Korean to US English, but alas — it got there in the end. Galaxy Note 8 specs, design and price: What we know so far

Image
Samsung finally confirmed yesterday when it’s going to unveil the Galaxy Note 8. The company has sent invites to the press for an event in New York City on August 23 where it’s going to officially announce the successor to the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding this handset given that it takes the baton from the spectacular failure that was the Galaxy Note 7 . Samsung has to prove with the Galaxy Note 8 that its flagship phablet lineup is capable of taking one on the chin and not only surviving but thriving. As I pointed out yesterday, there haven’t been a lot of leaks concerning the Galaxy Note 8, at least not as many as we saw with the Galaxy S8 earlier this year. Nevertheless, here’s what we know so far about the Galaxy Note 8’s specs, design and price. Galaxy Note 8 Display As we’ve seen in the latest leaked renders , the Galaxy Note 8 is going to have a 6.3-inch Infinity Display. This makes it seem like a stretched version of the Galaxy S8 a

Galaxy C7 (2017) appears on TENAA’s online database

Image
Last week, a reliable Twitter tipster revealed that the Galaxy C7 (2017) will come with a dual-camera setup, and now the handset has been spotted on Chinese certification authority TENAA’s database with — you guessed it — a dual-camera. Unfortunately, the documentation doesn’t reveal anything about the handset, other than that it’ll feature a two-sensor camera configuration similar to the one rumored to be on board the upcoming and Galaxy J7 (2017) and Galaxy Note 8 . Related:  Galaxy C7 (2017) rumored to sport a dual-camera setup This doesn’t necessarily mean that the Galaxy C7 (2017) will come with a dual-camera, though. It’s possible that Samsung’s only testing the setup, and will scrap it ahead of the device’s release — but that doesn’t seem too likely. Not a great deal is known about the Galaxy C7 (2017). Its predecessor, the Galaxy C7 , packed a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 16MP rear- and an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 3,300mA

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy J7 (2016), and Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2015) could get Android 7.0 updates soon

Image
After releasing the Android 7.0 update for its high-end smartphones and tablets, Samsung has been working on releasing the update to its mid-range devices. The company recently received Wi-Fi certifications for the Galaxy J7 (2016) , Galaxy A3 (2017) , and the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2015) running Nougat. The Galaxy J7 (2016) was released last year with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, while the Galaxy A3 (2017) was launched earlier this year with Android 6.0.1. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 was released in 2015 with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Now, it looks like all these devices will soon get the Nougat update. Don’t expect all these devices to get all the new software features from high-end devices. Samsung has been improving a lot when it comes to Android and security updates. We recently reported that the two-year old Galaxy S5 Neo could soon get the Nougat update as well . Save Save Save Save Save Save

July security update now arriving on the Galaxy Note 4

Image
Samsung has started rolling out this month’s security update for the Galaxy Note 4 in Europe, following its release for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ less than a week ago, which is impressive considering the handset is getting on for three-years-old. The upgrade — N910FXXS1DQG5 — weighs in at around 200MB and transports patches for a total of 65 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in the Android OS and 16 weaknesses in the firm’s Galaxy-branded smartphones. Samsung backs Apple in its legal dispute with Qualcomm

Image
Samsung is backing Apple in the company’s legal dispute with Qualcomm. The legal spat started earlier this year when the Federal Trade Commission accused Qualcomm of using its position in the market to force Apple to pay higher patent royalties for its baseband chips. Apple filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Qualcomm, the chipmaker filed a lawsuit in return. Qualcomm denied all of Apple’s allegations in its countersuit and accused it of withholding payments that were previously agreed upon. The company also filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission seeking to ban sales of all iPhones in the United States that use chips “other than those supplied by Qualcomm affiliates.” Apple started using Intel chips with the iPhone 7. Samsung is among the handful of major technology companies that have come out in support of Apple in its legal dispute with Qualcomm. Samsung releases the Galaxy J7 (2017) in South Korea

Samsung today announced the release of the Galaxy J7 (2017) in South Korea. It has teamed up with mobile carrier KT Corp to sell the handset in the country. This is the very same variant of the Galaxy J7 (2017) that has already been released in several markets across the globe, not the one that’s making the rounds in the rumor mill. The specifications are decent enough for a mid-range smartphone. The Galaxy J7 (2017) features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with an Exynos 7870 processor under the hood coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It’s powered by Android 7.0 Nougat. The handset also features a 13-megapixel rear and 13-megapixel front camera as well as a fingerprint sensor. It also has support for Samsung Pay, the company’s mobile payments service. The 3,600mAh battery helps keep the lights on. We’ve heard a lot of rumors recently about a variant of the Galaxy J7 (2017) that’s destined for China. Leaked renders of the handset show that it may have a dual camera system at

Samsung will announce Galaxy Note 8 on August 23

Image
Samsung will announce Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 July 21, 2017 By anish Leave a Comment Mark your calendars! Samsung has confirmed the announcement date for their upcoming Galaxy Note device. The Korean giant will unveil the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23 in New York at Park Avenue Armory. The teaser does not say much except to “do bigger things” but a silhouette confirms a design similar to the Galaxy S8 series, albeit we guess a bit larger. And of course, the S Pen. The phone will also focus on multitasking but we’re not sure what new multitasking improvements Samsung will bring to the table. Samsung will live stream the event on its YouTube channel as well. Find out what it means to do bigger things on 08.23.2017. pic.twitter.com/xsbqdP0QBM — Samsung Mobile (@SamsungMobile) July 20, 2017

Galaxy Note 8 launch date has been confirmed by Samsung

Image
There has been a lot of speculation about the Galaxy Note 8’s launch in recent weeks. Reports have suggested that the handset will be launched earlier than previously expected. This means that Samsung won’t be unveiling it at the IFA 2017 convention in September. Samsung’s mobile boss recently confirmed that the Galaxy Note 8 is going to be launched towards the end of August . The company has now officially confirmed the Galaxy Note 8 launch date by sending out invites to the press. It was reported that Samsung would conduct a separate event for the Galaxy Note 8 in New York City. That’s precisely what it’s going to do. The event will take place on August 23, where the Note 8 will go official. This is going to be a really important moment for Samsung as it essentially marks the rebirth of the Galaxy Note lineup following the disaster that was the Galaxy Note 7 . Samsung was quick to confirm last year that the Note lineup won’t be discontinued, so it’s certainly not going to let th
