July security update now arriving on the Galaxy Note 4

Samsung has started rolling out this month’s security update for the Galaxy Note 4 in Europe, following its release for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ less than a week ago, which is impressive considering the handset is getting on for three-years-old.

The upgrade — N910FXXS1DQG5 — weighs in at around 200MB and transports patches for a total of 65 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in the Android OS and 16 weaknesses in the firm’s Galaxy-branded smartphones.

Released back in 2014, the Galaxy Note 4 sports a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, an Exynos 5433/Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP rear-facing camera, a 3.7MP front-facing shooter and a 3,220mAh battery.

To check to see if the upgrade is ready for your Galaxy Note 4, open up Settings, tap Software Update, then press Download Updates Manually. If you choose not to follow these steps, you’ll receive an alert when the OTA is available to download.
