Samsung launches Gear S3 frontier TUMI Special Edition

Samsung Gear S3 frontier TUMI Special Edition

Samsung has teamed up with TUMI to bring a special edition for its Gear S3 frontier smartwatch. Announced for the United States market, the Gear S3 frontier TUMI Special Edition is now available for purchase on Best Buy’s website and Samsung.com with in-store availability in Best Buy starting from August 6 (in select locations).

So what does the special edition have? Well, it’s a regular Gear S3 frontier when you consider hardware-wise but TUMI’s collaboration brings a watchband designed by TUMI and a custom watchface. According to Samsung, the watchband sports “signature Earl Grey colorway and is constructed from an Italian canvas, which features a stainless-steel buckle and stitched edge detailing”. It also claims to resist water, dust, and rough conditions.

As with the other Gear S3 smartwatches, this special edition also supports Samsung Pay and comes with built-in GPS, Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ protection, 4GB of internal storage, 768MB RAM, a dual-core processor and up to three days of battery life.

The Gear S3 smartwatch is compatible with any Android phone running Android 4.4 and above and iPhone running iOS 9 and above.

Gear S3 frontier TUMI Special Edition is priced at $449.99.

Some OnePlus 6Ts have an issue with waves of static on the display

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. Samsung Display retains its leadership It's pertinent to mention here that Samsung's Q1 market share is 6.6 percentage points lower than it was in the same period last year.
