T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge get July security patch

A couple of weeks after it released the June security patch for these handsets, T-Mobile has now started rolling out the July security for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge on its network. The firmware update for these handsets follows similar updates that T-Mobile has already released for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 5 recently.

Firmware version G930TUVU4BQG5 and G935TUVU4BQG5 is now being rolled out by T-Mobile for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. The carrier has released said update over-the-air and it should be live for all users in the near future.

It’s a minor update which doesn’t bring much except the July security patch and the usual slew of stability and performance improvements. The update weighs in at just under 48MB so users shouldn’t expect much in the way of new features.

The July security patch brings fixes for 65 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) discovered in the Android operating system. It also includes fixes for 16 vulnerabilities in Samsung’s own software.

T-Mobile is rolling out this firmware update over-the-air so it may take a while before it lands on all supported handsets. Users can also try manually downloading the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download updates manually.
