Samsung Chromebook Pro refreshed with a backlit keyboard

Almost 11 months after the release of the Samsung Chromebook Pro the company has seen fit to release an updated version with a backlit keyboard, addressing one of the few consistent complaints levied at the high-end Chromebook. It's great to see Samsung correct this omission, but the timing does seem rather odd given that there are no other changes to the hardware.

The Chromebook Pro is still using the same Core m3 Skylake processor from Intel that has been available since late 2015. While users have been perfectly happy with the performance of the Chromebook Pro, it is hard to justify paying the $599 that Samsung is asking for the device when much of it is now out of date and there is considerably more competition in the higher-end Chromebook space this year.

With that said, it's still an excellent device, I would simply recommend that if you are considering picking up this that you wait a few weeks to see if some deals start popping up when it is available from someone other than Samsung itself.
