Google extends Pixel 2 Preferred Care coverage by 6 months

Back in October last year, in the wake of multiple Pixel 2/2 XL issues, Google extended the manufacturer warranty for both flagships from one to two years. But the length of the Preferred Care program remained unchanged (one year), effectively making the extended coverage useless.

That's, however, changing now. The Preferred Care coverage for both Pixel 2 and 2XL has been extended by 6 months. This means now users have a total of 30 months of accidental damage coverage, effective when the device is purchased.

Those already using the Pixel 2 series have started receiving notifications informing them about this change.

For those who aren't aware, Pixel 2 Preferred Care coverage also includes 6 months of mechanical breakdown coverage, which is effective after the two-year manufacturer's warranty.

Google Play Points reward program is official, but only in Japan for now

... Earlier this month, Cody discovered evidence for a loyalty program  in a teardown of the Google Play app, and now we're seeing the first official word about it. The rewards scheme is called Play Points and has gone live in Japan, according to a support page for the app. Users can join the program by navigating to the 'Play Points' section in the app's hamburger menu. To begin with, one point will be awarded for every ¥100 (about $0.90) spent on apps and games — to be used on IAPs or converted to Google Play credit — but as you progress, higher levels can be achieved with even greater rewards. Samsung releases Galaxy A31 in Malaysia along with deals and freebies

Samsung fans in Malaysia can now buy the company's latest mid-range phone, the Galaxy A31 . It's available in Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue, and Prism Crush White. The phone's official announcement for Malaysia mentions a recommended retail price of RM 1,099 ($257) but the company's online shop tells a different story. As of this writing, Samsung Malaysia is selling the Galaxy A31 for RM 50 less, or RM 1,049 ($245). In addition, Samsung Malaysia is offering free gifts to customers who buy the Galaxy A31 before June 30. Aside from getting an RM 50 discount, buyers will also receive free Protection Plus worth RM 119 ($28).
