La Liga brings its free OTT platform to Samsung smart TVs worldwide

Soccer fans and Samsung smart TV owners are in for a treat. Samsung has entered a new partnership with the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, known as La Liga for short, and through this deal, the sports-centric LaLigaSportsTV over-the-top (OTT) streaming service will become available for free to all Samsung smart TV owners around the world.

LaLigaSportsTV streams soccer events from La Liga and Secunda División, but it is not limited to this particular sport. In fact, the platform covers more than 30 sports ranging from ASOBAL Handball and matches from Spain's second-tier basketball division to badminton and weightlifting.

LaLigaSportsTV has around 600,000 registered users

Soccer is a big deal in Europe, obviously, and LaLigaSportsTV is a fast-growing OTT platform. It had 300,000 registered users in September and it doubled that figure in just four months. Samsung is now welcoming all of these users and La Liga fans into its own ecosystem and TV platform.

The launch of LaLigaSportsTV on Samsung's smart TVs stands as proof of the company's continuous support to deliver richer content to customers at no additional costs. Samsung TV Plus already offers a lot of free content as it is, and it was only last month when the platform welcomed ESTV into its list of free channels.

Google Pixel 3 Teardown: Adhesive secures battery, different OLED panel

The Google Pixel 3 XL Teardown by iFixit we featured yesterday revealed the bigger variant offers a whole lot of glue and is a bit challenging to disassemble and repair. We were surprised by the AMOLED screen as it was made by Samsung–one of its biggest rivals. The smartphone isn't exactly our top choice right now but the premium flagship has potential. It has a smaller variant, the standard Pixel 3, that comes without a notch and obviously wide forehead and chin. The Pixel 3 teardown shouldn't be any different from the Google Pixel 3 XL teardown but iFixit was curious if the display is the same. Samsung and SK Telecom link 4G and 5G networks for the first time

Samsung has teamed up with South Korea’s major mobile carrier SK Telecom to demonstrate the communication between 4G and 5G networks for the first time in the industry. Samsung has said that the demonstration went off without any disruptions and that clear streaming was enabled between the two networks. The two companies were successful in linking the long-term evolution network that uses the 2.6 GHz frequency band with the 5G network that uses the 28 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequency band. This will pave the way for 4G and 5G users to communicate even when there’s no nationwide 5G infrastructure. “Along with the 5G network’s 3.5 GHz frequency band that provides a wider coverage, and the 28 GHz frequency band that enables ultrahigh-speed transmission, the connection with the 4G network will help users enjoy the best communications services anywhere without disruptions,” said SK Telecom.
