Samsung hints at more foldable devices for 2020

Samsung announced its quarterly results for the last three months of 2019 today, and in the report, the company has hinted that it will be launching multiple foldable smartphones in 2020. The Galaxy Z Flip will clearly be the first of them, and while Samsung doesn't go into any details, it is clearly suggesting that the Z Flip is not the only foldable phone it will bring to market this year.

And that shouldn't come as a surprise. We already expect Samsung to release the successor to the Galaxy Fold in the second half of the year, though details on that device are pretty scarce at the moment. However, there have been reports that the Galaxy Fold 2 (or whatever Samsung calls it) will support the S Pen and have an 8-inch folding display. The foldable display will likely have ultra-thin glass on top, which would make S Pen support possible and also make the display less prone to damage compared to the Galaxy Fold's display.

Other specs can be expected to be similar to what the Galaxy S20 series will bring, like a 108MP camera, the latest Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets, and 5G support (possibly as standard in every country). Of course, it's too early to say exactly how Samsung's next foldable device will turn out to be, but it's good to see the company offering some confirmation that it's working on more foldable devices for launch after the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip.

Apple is postponing new iOS features in favor of reliability and performance

Apple has decided to postpone new features in iOS in favor of improving the reliability and performance of the operating system, as according to a report by Axios. According to the report, Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President, Software Engineering, announced the revised plan to employees at a meeting earlier this month. This pushes features like refresh of the homescreen and in-car user interface, improvements to core apps like Mail and camera experience to 2019. What we will get this year is improvements to AR, digital health and parental controls. Apart from that, the OS will largely feature improvements to performance and user experience.
