Huawei announces familiar-looking Enjoy 8 phones

Two days after the P20 event, Huawei had another party, this time in China. The company launched three midrangers, part of the new Enjoy 8 series. The phones might look like new, but we already saw two of them arrive with different monikers.

The biggest one - Enjoy 8 Plus, was recently launched as Huawei Y9 (2018) in Thailand. The regular Enjoy 8 is called Y7 Prime (2018) elsewhere, with the most affordable one - Huawei Enjoy 8e being the only new face.

All three phones arrive with dual camera setups and 18:9 displays. We already covered the Enjoy 8 Plus arrival and the Enjoy 8 appearance - you can follow the links above to know all about them. So here's what the new, most affordable member of the lineup brings us.

The Enjoy 8e has a 5.7" LCD screen with HD resolution. The chipset is Snapdragon 430 by Qualcomm with octa-core CPU, clocked at up to 1.4 GHz. It is offered in only one memory variation - 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage (microSD slot is available though). The dual camera on the back has a 13 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP secondary one for depth information. Selfies are taken with the front 5 MP camera, positioned right next to the earpiece.

There is a fingerprint scanner on the back, while all the hardware buttons are positioned on the right side. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Battery onboard is 3,000 mAh, charged through the micro USB.The phone comes with EMUI 8.0, based on Android Oreo, but lacks Google services, since it is a China-exclusive phone.

With such basic specs, the price is anything but pretentious - CNY1,099 or about $175 for the Enjoy 8e. In comparison, the Enjoy 8 has a price tag of at least CNY1,299 ($207), while the Enjoy 8 Plus with the 4,000 mAh battery costs no less than CNY1,699 ($270). All three phones are offered in either Blue, Gold, Pink, or Black color.
