Galaxy A30 now receiving its second update of the month

Samsung has started rolling out its second update of the month for the two-month-old Galaxy A30. The release bundles a number of improvements for core system functions, including GPS. It also carries a handful of changes that are said to ameliorate the stability of audio playback and the handset's proximity sensor, according to the changelog — though it's unclear how exactly it does that.

The last update Samsung circulated for the Galaxy A30, which began making the rounds at the start of the month, transported all of the patches baked into this month's security release; addressing five critical and dozens of high-risk vulnerabilities in the Android OS, as well as 15 that are exclusive to Samsung's firmware. It also bundles a fix for a bug that hindered earphone performance.

All of those changes have been ported over to this latest update, so those who missed out on the last one shouldn't fret about installing it first, before the most recent one. In fact, the only way you could do that — should you want to — is by flashing the firmware on to your device via a PC, as Samsung has already hit the brakes on the rollout of the previous build in favor of this one.

Just like before, Samsung is rolling out the update in stages. To check to see if it's available for your Galaxy A30, head into Settings, navigate to Software update, then select Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the firmware from our database to flash it on to your handset manually, but as we've said in the past: you'll need to be fairly tech-savvy to do it right.
