Samsung releases November security patch for the Galaxy S10 5G
Samsung kickstarted the rollout of the November 2019 security patch before the end of October beginning with the Galaxy Tab S4 a couple of days back. It is, however, not the only Galaxy device to receive the latest patch as the Korean company is rolling out the same update to its flagship Galaxy S10 5G as well.
The update is currently out only in Nordic countries and carries the software version G977BXXU2ASJ5 there. Considering the Galaxy S10 5G is available in select markets, you can expect the rollout to be completed soon. Also, since the device shares many similarities with other S10 models, the same update for other variants should arrive soon.
Neither Google nor Samsung has released any information about what's included in the November 2019 SMR (Security Maintenance Release) so far. Given that Samsung is already beta testing Android 10 with One UI 2.0 on the Galaxy S10 lineup, it's doubtful the latest patch brings any new features.
It is worth pointing out the Galaxy devices are receiving the November security update even before the same is available for Google's Pixel devices. It serves as an example that while Samsung may not be the quickest to roll out Android version updates, it does a much better than most other OEMs when it comes to monthly security updates.
If the update for the Galaxy S10 5G is available in your region, you should receive an OTA notification automatically. You can also manually check for the update by opening Settings and tapping the Download updates manually option under the Software Update menu. Alternatively, you can also download the latest firmware from our database and manually flash it if you are impatient to wait.
