Galaxy M01 Core may simply be a rebadged Galaxy A01 Core

If you remember the Galaxy A01/M01 line which hit a variety of markets over the first half of this year, Samsung is now following up on it with an even lower-end device posing as a pairing – the Galaxy M01 Core, which reports suggest could simply be a rebranded Galaxy A01 Core.

Samsung will most likely end up using separate monikers in different markets. It may depend on which particular brand has more recognition in a specific market. Under the hood, though, the device is actually going to be one and the same.

Galaxy M01 Core may not be a separate device

A newly spotted revision of Google Play API documentation shows the Galaxy M01 Core bearing model number SM-M013F listed as "a01core". This suggests that both of these handsets are actually the same and that they will only be launched under separate brand names in different markets.

We exclusively confirmed the Galaxy A01 Core specs yesterday. The handset will feature a 5.3-inch 1480×720 resolution LCD display, a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6739 processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. There's also going to be a 3,000mAh removable battery.

While the Galaxy A01 originally debuted at around $120, its Core-branded follow-up is expected to drop that asking price by another $40 or so. Meaning it's targeting a market segment that's extremely price sensitive and may appreciate the provision of a removable battery, something that has long proven to be very useful in entry-level devices.
