Samsung could be working on a Dual Wireless Charging Pad

Samsung has been approved a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a Dual Wireless Charging Pad that will—presumably—work in a similar way to the one Apple announced alongside the iPhone X back in September, allowing users to charge their Galaxy- and Gear-branded products simultaneously.

The firm’s Dual Wireless Charging Pad takes advantage of both inductive and resonate modes of wireless charging, which are compliant with the Qi standard, reports Patently Mobile, meaning there shouldn’t be a single Qi-compatible smartphone, tablet or wearable on the market it won’t be able to charge.

Based on the sketches included in the patent filing, the science behind the Dual Wireless Charging Pad is actually pretty simple. There appear to be two coils housed within the unit; both of them support inductive and resonate charging—and the Pad can automatically switch between them when it sees fit.

Dual Wireless Charging Pad to launch alongside the Galaxy S9?

It’s worth mentioning, however, that Samsung is regularly approved patents by the USPTO, but only a small number of them make their way onto the market. That said, we’d bet our bottom dollar that it launches the Dual Wireless Charging Pad alongside the Galaxy S9 to put it in a better position to compete with the iPhone X.

Sony Announces Smaller Digital Paper E-Ink Writing Tablet

Sony has now announced a smaller follow-up to last year's Digital Paper E-ink writing tablet, the DPT-RP1. That's according to a new announcement made today via Sony's official blog. The new tablet – also dubbed with Digital Paper branding but sold under the model number DPT-CP1 – seems to be the same basic design as the previous model. However, while that earlier device was sized as close as possible to A4 paper with a 13.3-inch display, the new model drops to A5 with a 10.3-inch display. That should make its use much easier under a wider number of circumstances since it will arguably be easier to hold in one hand while writing with the other.  However, there will certainly be other benefits as well. Samsung to build a P3 ‘total semiconductor factory’ in Pyeongtaek by 2021

It hasn't been long since Samsung completed the construction of its P2 semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek, but now, the company is preparing to build its 3rd 'P3' semiconductor factory in the same city in the Gyeonggi Province. According to reports from the local media , Samsung wants to start constructing the P3 plant in September and make it fully operational by the end of 2021. The P3 plant will reportedly be 300 meters longer than the existing P2 plant, topping a total of 700 meters in length. Constructing the building itself should take roughly a year, and a few additional months will be needed to install the necessary equipment and ready it for mass production. Motorola 's Pronto Suite of applications is going to be used by the States of Jersey Police, proposed as a forward-moving effort to transition from using methods for simpler tasks that could be completed more efficiently in the field by using digital resources instead of using paper. Examples of tasks that could be completed with some of the apps in the Pronto Suite are things like taking down statements or handing out penalty notices. The idea behind getting on board with the Pronto Suite is to save time for officers in the field and help streamline things.
