Amazon Prime is one of the biggest services offered by the massive online retailer. For a monthly or yearly fee, you can get free two-day shipping for millions of items in Amazon's listings, along with free streaming access to thousands of movies and TV shows, including a growing list of original Amazon Prime Video films and series. We've already asked the question of whether or not Amazon Prime is worth it. Long story short, there are also many benefits that will make it worth it for some users. Still, it's not for everyone.

The process itself is simple but can be a little tricky to figure out at first.

First Step: Go to Amazon.com and go to Your Account page and then click on "Your Prime Membership"

This may be the trickiest part of the process, believe it or not. You might think you need to click on the Memberships and Subscriptions section of the Your Account menu to start cancelling Amazon Prime. However, You need to go down the menu a bit to "Your Prime Membership" and click on that to begin the procedure.

Second Step: Click on the End Memberships and Benefits section

Once you are on your Amazon Prime Membership page, glance on over to the left where you will see the "End Membership and Benefits" in a very small font letters. Click on that to continue the process on how to cancel Amazon Prime.

Third Step: Go through the "Are You Sure?" page

Yes, Amazon really, really does not want you to cancel your Amazon Prime subscription. After you click on the "End Membership and Benefits" link, you will then be taken to a page where you will be asked if you are sure you want to cancel the service. You have three choices to click, but its the middle one, "End My Benefits" that you want to tap on if you really want to continue this process.

Step Four (maybe): Go through the annual membership page

If you have a monthly subscription to Amazon Prime, the next page you may see will ask you to stick around and pay an annual subscription instead. We will assume you want to cancel Amazon Prime for this post, so simply click on "Continue to Cancel My Membership" to keep going with this process.

Step Five: Choose to get a refund or let it run out on its own

This is the most interesting choice in this process. In the next page you bring up, you can either click on "End Now" and your Amazon Prime service will stop immediately, plus you will get a refund of your subscription as well, depending on how many days you have left. However, if you want to keep using it until the previously sent end date for the service arrives, you can click on the "End on (ending date") selection, and Amazon Prime should end on that date, with no more charges.

Step Six: Amazon Prime cancelled

Whichever of those two choices you make,  you will be taken back to the "Your Prime Membership" page, where it will tell you that your subscription has been cancelled, or it will end on a specific date. Keep in mind that you can rejoin Amazon Prime at any time for $12.99 a month or $99 a year (plus taxes).

How to cancel Amazon Prime – Conclusion

That's how you can cancel Amazon Prime. Again, it's a little tricky at first, and Amazon does try its best to keep you around, but if you really want to do away with it, it only takes a few clicks with a mouse or a few taps on a smartphone or tablet screen.
