OP6 Flagship To Feature A “Designed By OnePlus” Inscription

The upcoming OnePlus 6 Android flagship will have a "Designed by OnePlus" inscription on its back panel, as suggested by a new teaser shared by the Chinese phone maker. The image that can be seen above has been revealed along with a promise of "new materials" being used for the creation of the OnePlus 6, with one previous leak already pointing to either a wooden rear plate or a case, whereas the newly shared render appears to be hinting at a glass back panel. Both materials would allow the device to sport wireless charging capabilities, a feature that has so far circumvented every OnePlus-made smartphone to date.

What's likely the said "Designed by OnePlus" inscription can already be seen on the aforementioned leak, though the writing itself is ineligible in that particular image. The lettering will apparently be relatively small, positioned near the bottom of the phone's rear side. While OnePlus was criticized for delivering devices that are visually similar to those from OPPO's R lineup in recent years, the company is now insisting that its next offering will boast a unique design. The OPPO connection comes down to the Chinese phone maker's parent company BBK Electronics that's also believed to hold a controlling stake in OnePlus.

Recent OnePlus flagships all shipped with metal backs but a move to a glass panel would be in line with the fact that the OnePlus 6 will be the firm's first smartphone with a notable IP rating, as the OEM already confirmed earlier this month. The upcoming lineup is expected to entail two or three standard models, with the most premium one being set to feature 256GB of storage space and 8GB of RAM, whereas all will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 and feature a display notch that should allow for a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 90-percent. The OnePlus 6 is expected to be announced by early May and go on sale globally shortly afterward.

Google’s December 2018 security patch includes much-needed RAM management fix

Every first Monday of the month, we're used to seeing Google launch security patches for its supported devices. This month is no different, as Google has released the December 2018 security patch. The patch not only fixes a bunch of security bugs, but also features the long awaited memory performance fixes. Android Pie has long been killing apps in the background (even if you were using them a second ago) and it's even affected devices other than Pixel /Nexus devices and we hope this fix will help. There are also some camera fixes for Pixel users included as well. Surprisingly, we're seeing the updates hit the Nexus 5X and 6P, both of which have reached their end of life. It's good to see Google support these old devices even when their three years are up and the company has no obligation to update them. December's software release is here.
