Want your own Android Oreo? You can 3D print one.

When Google unveiled their Android Oreo statue in New York (and at the Googleplex) last year, the event was catered by Mondelēz International, the company who owns the Oreo brand. They supplied limited edition Oreo cookies, with an embossed Android on one side, and the familiar Oreo design on the other. Mondelēz International never released these Android cookies to the general public, so…we made our own.

I'm not the worlds best 3D-modeller, in fact I probably would struggle to make anything in 3D, so I did what everyone else does in these situations – I got someone else to do it. In this case it was a 3D modeller on Fiverr called Sazzid who did the work for me, simply based off some sample pictures I sent.

The results are pretty good if I do say so myself. I had some printed up through a local 3D printing service I found using 3DHubs. The colour isn't quite right, but PLA is a strange beast, but it looks good enough for me anyway.

I've been pretty slack about sharing the resulting files, but I have finally gotten around to doing it. For those with a 3D Printer, or want to get theirs printed locally you can find the STL file over on Thingiverse, or if you want to be lazy – sort of like I am with my 3D printing – you can find it over on my Shapeways store alongside 3D scans of me.

Sony Announces Smaller Digital Paper E-Ink Writing Tablet

Sony has now announced a smaller follow-up to last year's Digital Paper E-ink writing tablet, the DPT-RP1. That's according to a new announcement made today via Sony's official blog. The new tablet – also dubbed with Digital Paper branding but sold under the model number DPT-CP1 – seems to be the same basic design as the previous model. However, while that earlier device was sized as close as possible to A4 paper with a 13.3-inch display, the new model drops to A5 with a 10.3-inch display. That should make its use much easier under a wider number of circumstances since it will arguably be easier to hold in one hand while writing with the other.  However, there will certainly be other benefits as well. Samsung to build a P3 ‘total semiconductor factory’ in Pyeongtaek by 2021

It hasn't been long since Samsung completed the construction of its P2 semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek, but now, the company is preparing to build its 3rd 'P3' semiconductor factory in the same city in the Gyeonggi Province. According to reports from the local media , Samsung wants to start constructing the P3 plant in September and make it fully operational by the end of 2021. The P3 plant will reportedly be 300 meters longer than the existing P2 plant, topping a total of 700 meters in length. Constructing the building itself should take roughly a year, and a few additional months will be needed to install the necessary equipment and ready it for mass production. Samsung says upcoming Galaxy M handsets will be better and cheaper

The Galaxy M series has proven to be very successful for Samsung. The company launched its Galaxy M handsets last year in a bid to compete more effectively against the likes of Xiaomi and Vivo in India's lucrative mid-range market.
