This gold plated Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a heart-stopping price tag

Truly Exquisite Galaxy S9 Truly Exquisite

  • Truly Exquisite is now selling customized Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones.
  • The phones come plated in a variety of precious metals and prices start at 2,300 pounds (about $3,079).
  • All devices come unlocked so they can be used worldwide.

U.K. based customizing brand Truly Exquisite is now selling astonishingly expensive gold and platinum finished Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones (as spotted by GSMArena).

If you thought that Huawei was pushing limits with the 1,695 euro (about $2,000) price of the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS, then avert your eyes now. Truly Exquisite phones start at an eye-watering 2,300 pounds (about $3,079) for a Galaxy S9 with a plated frame and go up to a heart-stopping 3,700 pounds (about $4,957) for a tiger, dragon, or lion engraved Galaxy S9 Plus.

You can also buy a 24K gold, 18K rose gold, or platinum plated version that costs 2,750 pounds for a Galaxy S9 or 2,900 pounds for a Galaxy S9 Plus. My personal favorite is the 24K gold crocodile leather version that costs either 3,050 or 3,200 pounds depending on the model you choose.

To put that in perspective, an unlocked Galaxy S9 currently can be bought for $669 and an unlocked Galaxy S9 Plus for $789.99.

Mobile VR headsets – what are your best options?

Standalone VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive do their job brilliantly but both come at a premium. The Rift will set you back $499, while HTC's option currently retails for $599. If …

As well as a premium customization, buyers will also be getting one of the best phones to have been released so far this year.  All the devices are unlocked so they can be used throughout the world (just make sure you check network compatibility first!).

The main thing to watch out for with these uber-expensive versions off Samsung's flagships is that wireless charging will only work on the plated frame edition as the company replaces the phone's glass back on the other versions.

Truly Exquisite has been customizing luxury devices for a few years now. While I can't really think of any situation where I would want one of these phones, there must be a sizeable enough market to at least keep the company afloat. It has previously customized both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and various iPhone models.
