Best Buy accidentally sells customer the new, unannounced Chromecast

Google has its annual fall hardware event planned for October 9th, which is when we'll see the official announcement of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL on top of the usual slate of Google-made hardware upgrades. One of those upgrades, to the company's Chromecast line, appears to have been leaked in rather embarrassing fashion by Best Buy, which sold the unannounced product to a customer who picked it up off the shelf, via AndroidPolice.

The customer, who posted a photo of the product an account of the story on Reddit under the name GroveStreetHomie, says it didn't even show up in Best Buy's system, but that the cashier rang up the product under a listing for an older Chromecast.

It's not earth-shattering news to know that Google is planning a third-generation Chromecast to replace the 2015 model, which has since been outdated the 4K-equipped Chromecast Ultra of two years ago. Still, the surprises for Google's event next month have all but evaporated considering the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been extensively leaked over the course of the last two months, and now we can check a new Chromecast off the list.

Gear S3 frontier update patches major S Voice bug

Samsung released a much-requested update for the Gear S3 frontier on Wednesday. The upgrade has been designed to patch a major bug that resulted in S Voice crashing whenever it was toggled — and from what we can tell, it’s working. The glitch itself has been running riot since May, which is around the same time the device received a routine maintenance update , leading us to believe a faulty line of code was the reason S Voice was unable to run without breaking down. Some noticed that the performance of S Voice suffered when asking it to retrieve information from the internet, like a weather forecast, but it never crashed. Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. Samsung Display retains its leadership It's pertinent to mention here that Samsung's Q1 market share is 6.6 percentage points lower than it was in the same period last year. T-Mobile starts rolling out Android 10 update to Galaxy Tab S6

Samsung started the rollout of Android 10 to its current-generation flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6 , three months ago. One month later, Verizon released the Android 10 update to the Galaxy Tab S6 on its network. Now, T-Mobile has released the Android 10 software update to the tablet on its network in the US . The new software update with firmware version  T867USQU2BTE1 brings Android 10 to the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T867U). It also features One UI 2.1 and the May 2020 Android security patch . The file size of the update is over 2.1GB, so we would advise you to use a Wi-Fi connection to download the new software.
