The $299 Moto G7 Now Available For Pre-Order

Motorola's latest mid-range smartphone, the Moto G7, is now available for pre-order in the US.

The Moto G7 was announced earlier this month by the company, as the successor in its lineup of very popular Moto G smartphones. In fact, it is the most successful lineup that Motorola has ever had. The Moto G7 is the baseline model in the lineup, and comes with a price of $299. This year, instead of offering different RAM/storage models for each Moto G7 variant, there's one version, but four different Moto G7 models with different names.

Motorola packed the Moto G7 with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display. It does have a water-droplet style notch. So there is a notch there, but it is a pretty small one, and most people won't notice it. There is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset inside. That is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Inside, you'll find a 3000mAh capacity battery powering the Moto G7.

On the camera-front, Motorola has a dual-camera setup on the back. That includes a 12-megapixel main sensor and then a 5-megapixel secondary sensor used for depth data. There is also a 8-megapixel sensor on the front.

For a mid-range smartphone, it has a few features that might be a bit surprising. Like a headphone jack, a fingerprint reader and the fact that it does support all of the US carriers out of the box. Just put your SIM card inside, and you're good to go. However, there is no NFC chip in the Moto G7, once again.

In the past couple of years, the Moto G series has been watered down a bit. Part of that is because Motorola has been releasing many different versions of the Moto G series, adding a Play, Power and even a Plus model to the original version. With all of these having different price points, it sort of canibalized the other models it has, like the Moto E and Moto Z smartphones.

However, the Moto G7 seems to be a pretty decent smartphone from Motorola, especially at this price point. Sure, it still has the notch that no one is a fan of, but given the specs of the Moto G7 and its price, this is a very capable smartphone. The Snapdragon 632 is plenty fast, but also energy efficient. Meaning that your Moto G7 is going to last even longer on a single charge, and that's something everyone can appreciate. And with 64GB of storage, you're getting as much storage as some phones that cost nearly $700 or more.

The Moto G7 comes in two colors: ceramic black and clear white. And as mentioned, there is only one storage variant, which is 64GB. All of this for $299 is actually not a bad price at all. And the Moto G7 will start shipping on March 1. You can pre-order the Moto G7 from the links below. It is currently available from Motorola's website as well as Best Buy. Amazon does not yet have it available for pre-order, but that may change in the coming days.
