Samsung explains how it optimized the Galaxy S8 for the Chinese market

To coincide with the Galaxy S8′s release in China, Samsung has shared a post on its Newsroom highlighting the different ways it optimized the handset for consumers in the region, which include building a new Calendar application that allows users to simultaneously view the solar and lunar calendar, and introducing the option to purchase additional data in Smart Manager.

The firm also launched two exclusive interactive services — the Samsung Assistant application and Yellow Page, a service accessible via a tab in the Messages and Phone application. Both of the tools were designed specifically to help consumers use their Galaxy S8 to do tasks that are traditionally done offline in China, like making a doctor’s appointment.

Obviously, Samsung has made a slew of changes to the user interface as well. The Chinese variant of the Galaxy S8, for example, displays all of the applications on the home screen by default, though users have the option to use the standard arrangement, which features a vertical swiping interface to navigate between the home screen and app drawer.
