Casio has a new PRO Trek watch running Wear OS and it probably isn’t coming to Australia
With the new functionality update for Wear OS announced overnight, there's a new focus on hardware and Casio has just unveiled a new Wear OS watch – the PRO Trek WSD-F30 at IFA.
The PRO Trek WSD-F30 is an update on their existing line of Wear OS watches. The watch has a dual display similar to what we saw on the recently released Mobvoi TicWatch Pro. The WSD-F30 has a 1.2″ 390×390 resolution OLED display, paired with a monochrome LCD with both covered by an anti-fouling coating.
Like it's predecessors the watch tough with Mil-Spec MIL-STD-810 certification and water resistance up to 50 metres, as well as the ability to go up to -10 degrees C (almost enough to survive a Canberra winter!).
Casio is pushing extended battery life with the WSD-F30, talking about Extend Mode which utilises the dual display allowing you to access offline colour maps, with additional option for offline GPS logging for up to eight hours per day over three days. Extend Mode offers you 'time and measurement data' including 'atmospheric pressure/altitude and compass bearing' on the monochrome display, but you can switch to the colour maps mode with the push of a button.
Using the monochrome display in Extend Mode only you should see around a month of use, or if you want to use the colour OLED display you should get around 1.5 days of use says Casio.
The PRO Trek WSD-F30 will be available for USD $549 in black, blue and orange colour options in January 2019 in the US. We've previously been able to import the watch through Amazon, however with their new import restrictions in place you'll have to search around a little harder if you want to get one.
