Fitbit Charge 3 Leaks In Hi-Res Renders, Two Colors Revealed

Close to a dozen renders depicting what's said to be the Fitbit Charge 3 leaked online this week, having been obtained by Android Authority. The images that can be seen below are in line with previous sightings of the fitness tracker and provide the most detailed look at the upcoming wearable to date, revealing a black and bronze gold variant of the device paired with a white and soft purple band, respectively.

With Fitbit's signature side button missing from the Charge 3, the new gadget will offer a full-fledged touchscreen, according to the same source. It's presently unclear whether a move to a more technologically advanced control scheme will affect the price of the Charge 3, though Fitbit may want to avoid that scenario given how the Charge 2 was already one of the most expensive products in its category, starting at $150 and going up to $180. The wearable was still critically acclaimed and continues to be lauded as one of the best products of its kind to date, though it's been two years since its release and Fitbit never outright confirmed it's working on a successor. The company itself is presently going through a slump due to declining sales that it's largely attributing to fitness trackers, i.e. the fact that consumers are losing interest in such single-purpose devices and are turning to more full-fledged smartwatches in rising numbers.

The Charge 3 is also expected to deliver an improvement in the form of 5ATM water resistance allowing it to survive being submerged by up to 50 meters, making it the most resilient member of Fitbit's tracker line to date. A special edition of the gadget with an NFC module is also said to be in the works, whereas the regular model will lack that feature, according to the latest report on the device. GPS support won't be part of the package and it's still unclear when Fitbit is planning to launch the Charge 3, though the wearable is likely to be available for purchase in the U.S. by this year's holiday season.
